I am on the scrounge again for something free. I was looking for an old anvil for the shed, so I can bash steel as a form of meditation and also for making stuff, but was completely shocked at the sort of prices people want for them.

Another option is to use a piece of old railway line. I have been snooping around the local railway yards and the only track I can find is in very long lengths. I probably only need a piece about 300mm long. I am happy to take a longer piece within reason of easy handling.

Would anyone on here have a small section at home, or could nick a piece from their work for me? Or even an old unused anvil lying around the place taking up space. I can do you a huge favour by removing it for free:)

If you are able to help, please just drop me a PM.

    regards,

    Slug

p.s. I just downloaded and watched the movie “Ironman” and now am motivated to make my own armour like his:lol:

I reckon a length of large RSJ or “I” beam would also do the trick for me

You should be able to pick up a decent section of RSJ pretty cheap I would reckon. I used to get it in for a reasonable price for a new 7m length :)
