Yes i’m leaning towards the KLX only because the last 6 bikes ive owned have been kawasaki’s and havent had a problem with any of them but maybe time for a change

They are all very good but according to reviews I would get an 2009 CRF450X. Major updates, KYB suspension and stuff…
But I think its best to testride them all.

Hey Badfun, your in the wrong place if your looking for unbiased opinions, seriously I spoke to the owner of the bike shop down our way yesterday, weiging up 250 vs 450, he said if you want a mellow 450 then the KLX is the way to go, he reckons the power is a lot easier to use than the wr or the crf. Personally I love the green but am also leaning towards a wr, (250 that is) I just think I’ll have more fun on the 250 rather than trying to hang on to a 450 all day.

    Cheers

Gidday Chris….Ive heard the KLX motor has been tamed down heaps compaired to the KX
Thats why i like the CRF but have heard they need servicing a lot more than other bikes…as said before WR suits smaller riders(so ive heard) and i know nothing about KTM’s
I can not comment from personal experence and id hate to buy one that needs heaps of mods to suit me….May just buy a XR 650R:woohoo:

    Cheers

As a complete package I think it would be hard to look past the CRF with the steering damper and extra goodies fitted as standard. Having rode Choppers ex-CRF (08 model) I found it a very nice bike to ride.

It had better suspension stock than the KTM, although if you’re a bigger bloke you will need to get that sorted anyway which should eliminate any issues. The engine on the KTM is stronger and with a pipe makes it very torquey everywhere. Especially off the bottom.

Brakes are much better on the KTM, gearbpx much smoother on the Honda. KTM has more race like ergo’s, which I prefer but is alla matter of taste.

Bothy bikes require the same servicing so not much to split them there. I think any of the new 450’s would be a great bike and it will probably come down to your personal feel having sat/ridden on them.

If I was buying a new bike right now though I wouldn’t go any of them. The new Husaberg would be parked in my garage.

Good luck with whatever you get :)

Mate, I’m 6’4 ,120kg…Husky 610 does me ok for trails. Does surprisingly well on tight single trails too. maybe a tad heavy for some though…The te 510 is an awesome bike as well, 2yr warranty, awesome straight out of the box, is FI, claimed to be best on market. I’ve heard the best Mod for the klx is a heavier flywheel, Crf is still solid, typical of Honda’s ability. The KTM, i now nothing abut, apart from its heritage. Another decent option would be the HUSABERG with the new 70 deg engine config.. the builders say KTM’s input has helped withthe reliability concerns? .( i’m led to believe the KLX uses the DRZ powerplant? they’re a solid unit as well). they’d all be good untis, just difrent pro’s n con’s….Enjoy whatever you get.
