AnonymousI mentioned in my introduction post that me and DanD recently rode to Wisemans Ferry and back. I really enjoyed this trip because we got to see heaps of different scenery. We started at Teralba and rode to the Watagans, then rode through the Watagans to Bucketty, then down Mogo Creek Road to St Albans and on to Wisemans Ferry. 90% of the way was on dirt track. I saw the post for the Orange ride this weekend and it sounds like something I would want to do except I wouldn’t want to go too far. Has anyone got any ideas for say a weekend trip from around Newcastle that uses a lot of dirt roads and steers clear from the freeway or highway. I don’t mind using them for a short period but it would take away from the whole experience of the ride. It would also be good if it could factor in some touristy type attraction e.g. part of the ride to Wisemans Ferry was on the old Convict Trail which was excellent to stop along the way and take lots of cool pictures.
Has anyone ridden through Yengo National Park and is there anything interesting to see out there?
Thanks

AnonymousAlso to add to the above, the ride doesn’t have to be all easy. It doesn’t matter if there are hard bits in it as well.
December 2, 2008 at 11:17 am #113556Yeah I have a real good loop from the watagans over through Yengo, on the the putty for fuel at the halfway house and over to Deman (thru the poo track as it is s*#t hot, flows real nice) and into Deman for a counter lunch and back, is a great ride, will put it together in the new year if you want? Would be a great all skills ride, yeah will do that for sure. Good idea

AnonymousSounds excellent! I’ll try and get my friend Racey Tracey up for it too. Just don’t make it between 4 Jan and 9 Jan if possible as we’ll be camping at Port Macquarie. Do you have a rough idea as to how many km’s it is?
Keen as mustard and I want to outride Moto so I’ll start practising now.December 2, 2008 at 11:31 am #113564
AnonymousOh it’s like that is it! Well maybe I’ll ask my friend Racet Tracey if she wants to come with her ugly husband
Maybe I’ll get practising too so you won’t beat me!December 2, 2008 at 11:49 am #113566Now now people you have to stop fighting over me!!! And what’s with the ugly stuff?!??!
Just chatted to Champo and we are super keen too. A good time for us would be Boxing Day weekend or the weekend after the New Year. But anytime for a ride is always great.

AnonymousThere’s a couple of caravan type sites right near the beach front at Port Macquarie that would be nice. I’ve only ever stayed in motels there….
