Things have changed a little for the 2009 race.

Quads will be allowed to enter, however, they are being entered in the moto (motorbike) catergory! So, that means LESS BIKE SPOTS! 80 maximum!

In 2009, entries open on 1st January – once 80 moto entries are received – that’s it, no more!

route maps will be on a scroll in 2009, not on individual sheets that need to be stuck together as in other years.

    11th & 12th April 2009

    $415.00 to enter

approximately 850 kms race distance (mixed transport & competitive sections)

    Crash

Yeah, I might hold off with my MA liscence now I’ve busted my thumb. I like the idea of the map roller thingamy, gotta be easier than farking around with maps.

Have you seen Grabbo’s KTM530 custom set-up for the Safari?

Map roller very expensive if you can find them, lunch box with dowel does the job, very hard to read maps and travel at speed ( speed and watching where you are going not you strong suit Moto! ) lots of big rocks (again not your strong suit Moto! ) Have done it and looked after 4 bikes another time, crew chief you know can help if you want to do it.

Besides hot gossip is there will be no safari this year, its what I hear on the grape vine! Money, sponsorship dramas is the word

Too long a race for me to have a crack at mate. I’m keen for a dig at the A4DE one year though. Would consider Finke too if the situation was right. Wouldn’t be for a few years though. I need plenty of practice at avoiding rocks first :p

Would be a shame for Grabbo if they canned the Safari. What do you think of the bike?
