January 5, 2009 at 10:25 am #116780Thanks fella’s. I cant understand why seats are made so hard.. when I first hit the dirt/corrugations on this thing..I thought my ring was going to prolapse from the flogging it copped. took me about 3-4 months to get it all sorted.( no, not my ring..the susp.set up).Am i the only one who finds a good setting to cover all bases, only to frk around more hoping to get it better…then puttnig it all back how it was…

Cost me near a grand by the end. I had the fab man readjust the shape of the rear of the box, it now ramps up across the whole back, not just a square on the back.( no contact on the frame except bolt up) I cut the oil reburner out of the box and fitted a mini pod to the hose instead..I’ll take it off tomorrow and do some shots and post it for you. Lev’s fabrication in M’boro did the hard work for it. believe it or not, my original is still jammed up as one piece with just the one bolt left. All others spun in the plastics..No more dust in the snorkel now either. I need to drill a water hole in the bottom…one day.( original airbox is pure disaster and sad assed engineering..IMHO)
January 5, 2009 at 10:33 am #116831Yes it’s 1000%+ better..bit heavier..but i dont race.

Because its always easier the second time round.I didnt bother with the warranty as i couldnt see any point in having a new airbox with the same issues. That and the fact I killed it by doing my own services.

AnonymousNice ride Husky. Looks better than Tiny’s
The airbox does look very trick, which is more than I can say for grannies knitted seat cover

There ya go mate. The mounting bolt on the rear of the box was left inside of the box, made it easier to construct that way. He was a touch out on the front angle but he didnt get the bike until it was time to mount it, place the front tab.Note the amount of box cut away from the rear. this is now a good 1/2 inch of the frame. Also the lack of oil reburn pipe, which is now tucked up under the seat next to the top of the rear shock. it is breathing through a mini pod(k/n) filter. Previously it just dumped hot oil squarely on the slide in the Carby. not good for performance nor economy..IMHO is a stupid idea..only good for tree huggers. Hope this is of value for you.

Do you still get oil in this reburn pipe if you the bike is laid over? Surely the air filter does bugger all to help that?
January 7, 2009 at 2:11 am #117179No, the pipe goes from the rocker cover to the frame, from the frame into the motor, on the inside of the Airfilter..which is why i pissed it off. It’s only reason for being is anti-pollution, just seems stupid to have it go direct to the engine like it did. At the least, i reckon it should breathe onto the filter, not bypass it. Noew it just doesnt get anywhere near it. ( I’ll get around to Aralditing the mesh down…oneday)
