I got a call lst night, round 10:30 asking if I was interested in Exploring the Woocoo Area, just out behind Maryborough. Silly question. Well we headed off at 8am and went for a looksie at the forestry. 100k round run. 4 hours of awesome ride and we even managed to touch the sky on the journey. Biggest pity is my camera is with my best mate as his missus is spittng a kid..next time and there will be now i know this place exists. i’ll be taking it and posting some shots. Anyway, we left Maryborourh at 8 am, and headed west toward Biggenden, a small township about 87k away. We took a left turn at the Musket Flats road (12k) and followed it to through the Gungaloon state forest and on to the Wongi state forest reserve, through it and on to Fairley ‘s Knob National Park. Thsi is in the middle of the Robinson ranges( I think). All up hill, constantly, some interesting blind and rather sharp corners, riddled with ruts and rock outcrops, real interesting when your searching for some kind of Warp speed to keep up with White rabbit leading the ride. Once we hit the top, we were sitting in rain cloud, looking out accross the valleys..man I wish i had the camera was all I could think at that point. After a minute or two we dropped down the other side of the range and were just looking about for other track, when came accross an old farmer, who politley informed us we had entered private property. Nice old fella, we sat with for a bit, had a yarn or two ( maybe even picked myself up some contracting work in the bargain), he gave us permission to ride through his block on the old Convict road, which links with the Golden fleece road, to biggenden. To our surprise we found we we’re only a few Klm’s from Biggenden.Time was quickly running out for my mate, so we backtracked and started for home. Old mate the farmer had given us a heads up about an off track which cuts across the valley floor and up the otherside of the ranges to an old lookout, so we rode along looking for said track, finding the turn off we headed on down, and down and down, then bailed out on seeing if we could find the valley floor.Being just the 2 of us we figured better to be safe than sorry, so we turned about and went back up to the main track. that HILL just didnt want to stop!! maybe next time when we go down we’ll probably find out we were almost down? What an awesome morning! Both of us thoroughly enjoyed the ride, hopefully plans are under way for another day /morning of “Exploring” our surrounds. It sure beat the usual same ol same ol place of riding. Now, I hope you all enjoyed your day, I have. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Great report Husky ol mate. One consolation about not taking a camera is that photos never give a magic scene justice. Sometimes it is just good to enjoy the moment. Lucky break meeting the friendly farmer dude, nothing beats local knowledge.
Cheers

AnonymousI want to go riding!
February 4, 2009 at 3:55 am #120605Doing better than a slab for the farmer. Will be keeping an eye out for the pricks who’ve been in the area taking things that dont belong to them..Seems some A.Holes have been helping themseleves to anything NOT bolted down. Cant see anyones 4×4 getting away from the Husky in those hills! I reckon it’d be hard to hide your rig if suffered a hail of Gibbers!……..   I hate thieves with an Immense Passion. It’s one of the very FEW things that gets me aggro enough to swing at someone…now i better gotta go take my medication and calm down…thieves…suck

Ollie he was just rapt we pulled up and said hello. he was saying someone on a “Blue” bike was in the area and just kept on going like he wasnt even there. hard to do on a two wheel track? Blew me away he did,i apologised for being on his land,he says” ahhhhhh its ok. this is a road after all, it just happens to pass through My land.I was ready to turn tail and head out, he just wanted a yack. Sadly, we are loosing people like him, no-one is stepping up to take their places.
February 4, 2009 at 4:01 am #120606Now i have to leave you all. I need to see a medic and get re-aligned…

February 4, 2009 at 6:10 am #120614Mate I find the same thing when I go exploring around Kempsey,if you inadvertently go onto Private property and someone fronts you about it,take off your helmet, expose those big cow eyes:laugh: and explain your situation, more often than not they realise what you are about and will have a decent conversation with you. What pisses me off is dickheads who are to stupid to realise that their screaming up and down tracks on LOUD unregoed bikes is killing it for every one:angry: OH yeah and I hate thieving scumbags to,especially trail bike riding types.because we are so easily sterotyped, pisses me right off:angry:
PS yeah I had a shite day at work as well (eh Gili)ollie
February 4, 2009 at 7:15 am #120620sorry to hear that Ollie. Yes the LOUD bikes are an issue here, we get crap tossed at us in the local rag often. It’s good to see the Pipe manufacturers are starting to make performance pipes WITHOUT the noise.Old farmer sdaid he could hear the TT350, knew what it was too as he rides one for mustering. reckoned he couldn’t hear the Husky as much, we were one ridge accross form him when he first heard us. My riding partner said he couldnt hear the Husky from behind either? I keep thinking of getting a Barrett for it, but I dont really think I suffer for the power the stock on holds onto. The extra noise is just an Aggro for others, so maybe I’ll stay stock? You know there’s a problem in the bush when farmer Joe starts Locking gates and threatening to shoot..If I can help them out then i guess I will. No skin off my nose to see a thief Burn..
hope tomorrow is a better day, and hope you all get the rain you need.February 4, 2009 at 8:10 am #120627Husky610 wrote:
