Ok heres the deal about 3 weeks ago out riding the 426 and wouldnt ya know it ..had another heart attack:( luckily son was with me and hospital just around the corner from where we were riding :woohoo: ..long story short, was a blood clot in my heart they fixed it with a clot busting drug:) …. ok back to the present, im fighting fit again,:woohoo: but that old yz 426 is getting a bit much for me  …sooooo what ya think drz 400e or ktm200exc or kdx200,
or yz , cr, or kx, 250f im keen on say a drz i know they are heavy but the electric legs a heart saver and i can always lighten it
or mybe a cr, yz kx 250 2stroke but would need fww …oh and i only have about $4000 to spend
so what ya think..and dont say give up riding
cause i wont..oh yeah i mainly just trail ride ,single track, and forrestry, and farm rides,.. not a little boy about 110 kg so no light weightB) really want something just slightly more relaxed to ride and easy start
i love the power of the yz but its heavy can be a bitch to start sometimes and when ridden hard is prone to giving me heart attacks:blink:

Good to hear it wasn’t a bad one (bad enough though) if I were ewe (A little Kiwi humour there) I’d stay away from the YZ250 unless you are confident engine charateristics won’t give u a hard time cause I’ve had a rippling fit 25 yr old tell me the YZ250 beat him up too much, and wondered how an old man could hold it together on single track.

What about a Gas gas 300 excellent easy power and lightweight?

I would say get a 250F like a WR250F, or if you’re keen and don’t mind a bit of spanner work, a CRF or KTM250EXCF. Light but still plenty of poke – but not too much, and should fit in the budget you’re aiming for.

Either that or a postie bike!

we have a yz 250 2t with a fww its my sons i can ride it alright but after a while it beats me up .. but not as bad as the 426 really after something a little softer all round…EWE;) know :) What is the performance like between a wr250f and a drz400e as far as speed and power is conserned?? i know the drz is heavier but its also easy start and soft riding

Having had both I can tell you this:

DRZ has more all-out power, no question
WRF still has good power and it is comparable, just doesn’t quite have the legs of the banana.
DRZ is heavy, very heavy in comparison
WRF can be manhandled if need be, a DRZ can be gorilla-handled if need be!
Stock suspension on DRZ is woeful but easily sorted.
Stock suspension on WRF is better but still needs attention to be perfect
    Both have the electric leg!
WRF comes with goodies stock like decent bars, bar pad, is better set up around the speedo/headlight area
DRZ comes with a bucketful of crap that gets removed as soon as it is wheeled out of the showroom like rear mudguard extenders, huge and heavy blinkers, massive mirrors, reflector thingys. The stock handlebars are rubbish.

My DRZ had $650 spent on suspension and afterwards was better to ride than my WRF is with stock suspension – but not by a lot. The power difference is not a problem for the riding I do, the weight difference made a massive difference though.

For $4000 you would get a good DRZ or WRF, I would personally go for a WRF, probably an ’05 or ’06 if you can swing it into the budget. ’07 and later have the alloy frame, but will probably go over budget.
