We will be riding on the Easter Friday in the Wattie’s and camping the night in a field at Lemon Tree (near the old cricket ground), just past Dooralong. The aim of the Saturday ride is to go check out the Northern parts of the Watties that we haven’t explored before and find some new tracks for future Old Bull rides.

If I can find some extra stuff in preparation for the Ausberg ride too that would be awesome. We will ride on Friday, camp the night, have a rip on Saturday, maybe more exploring or some familiar loops before heading home in the arvo and going for an exploratory ride on the Sunday around Medowie/Nelson Bay area.

Feel free to join us if you are keen, there will be no set route on the Saturday and may encounter some tough stuff at times. If we have other riders we will give assistance if required.

    Happy trails B)

    Moto.

I’ll be keen for a ride in the Watagans on Easter Friday or Saturday (or Sunday or Monday).

Late start Friday would be good cause working late Thursday night.

    Now worries guys.

Lotsa – I wasn’t really planning an early start either as I will be making my way down from the Bay. Your knowledge of the Wattie’s may become very useful :)

Justo – Sounds like a plan mate. Are you going to camp the night too?

What ride grade are you boys comfortable with? There may be a bit of tricky stuff on the Friday…..

    Hey Moto,

I’m 99.9% Shore I’ll be camping out as well. I don’t want to look soft by going home for a hot shower and comfy bed at this stage.

As far as ride grade goes , on a good day I must be pushing grade 3. I went on a 2 day ride from dungog to bulladelah with ccdr. The only thing that let me down was my endurance in the last few hours of the 2nd day, particularly on one big mother of a hill in what felt like 45deg heat.

Okay mate sounds good. If we come across anything that anyone struggles with we will all help each other out anyway :)

You would look soft going home for a hot shower  It’s not like we can even hit the Dooralong pub up for dinner anymore either :(

I am sure if you wore a tea towel on your head or had dark hair and a moustach you could get something to eat down at the pub.

Moto I would love to come on this ride after the excellent one that you organised on Sunday, but I had better do the family thing over Easter. I will just have to wait for your Ausberg ride and see what loops you find.

Have fun boys and hopefully the weather will be kind.

I haven’t given it much thought to be honest but I could quite happily go out at 9:00am onwards. I will be coming down from Nelson bay so don’t won’t to go to early. If lotsa and Justo are happy to go later that’s fine with me.

    Lotsa/Justo – What say thou’?

Dan – Shame you can’t make it mate. As soon as I scope out some tracks for the Ausberg ride I’ll figure a date out and post it up :)

DanD must forget that I read the posts too! ‘But I had better do the family thing over Easter’.
Jeez, just for that one I am going to make him take me and the girls and the bikes out to the Watagans one day over the weekend. We’re going to chuck some sausages and bread in a backpack. We’re going to double the girls to somewhere like boarding house dam, have a BBQ lunch and then ride back to the car, after doing some sightseeing with them. How much worse can it get than that?

For me anyway, there is nothing better than being able to combine the family thing and the riding thing.

    Happy Easter everyone :)
