So Boulder was early to my place we quickly loaded his Banana and off we went, two Bananas on the trailer
We went straight to Hampton and parked just near the pub, we very quickly had the bananas unloaded and we suited up and disappeared into the fog, I took my jacket but thought I wouldnt need it, it was cold enough to freeze the balls of a brass monkey
About 2 kms and straight into the pine forest, we found some real good tracks to get us up to the Oberon / jenolan caves turn off. We had to travel again up about 1 km of bitumen to get us on the edge of the state forest, from there we found a series of tracks to get us to the top of Jenolan Caves. From there we rode down to the Caves and through the archway which we will travel through twice on the ride weekend
The views with the fog was amazing we didnt stop and kept going up to the kanangra walls turn of and then down to the track Crash calls the POO track because it is s*#t hot and even though they have done some work on it we both agreed it was so much fun, this includes a creek crossing that left Boulder with wet boots
We rode back to the kanangra walls / Jenolan caves rd intersection and started looking for another way to travel over to Hampton so we could do a different track each day. We rode some of the best tracks I have ridden in long time and will be going back out there but we couldnt link it all together for this ride but I will one day soon.
After around 50kms in the one pine forest we ended up back at the kanangra walls / Jenolan caves rd intersection and rode back through the caves and back to the pub re running all the tracks and we both decided there is plenty to offer everyone going on the ride, although the girls have the option of riding the bitumen once we climb out of the caves.
We found some really fun tracks to link it all together and everyone will enjoy themselves I am sure.
There is a 15km section through Jenolon Caves each way that cant be avoided, the road in and out is a very twisty narrow road that must be treated with respect as some of the corners are still wet in the middle of the afternoon
Thanks Boulder you are the man I was looking to have to do that myself for the ride to function smoothly, thanks so much, we will go out there again mate
PS we went to the Hampton Pub and sampled both the alcohol and the meals and they are massive and tasty :laugh:

AnonymousIt was a great ride, I am just sitting here thinking about how much fun I had even riding chops banana which didnt miss a beat. We motored with very few stops and covered 198kms I think Boulder said, the 2nd, 3rd gear trails are fun and have some wicked silly patches that keep you on your toes.
There is so much this ride has to offer everyone, what a great day and was home in time to spread 3 metres of woodchip

AnonymousAhhhhhhhhhh……I didn’t think your old wheels were unrideable. Cool, at least the pre run is done. I’m going to try and give the S12 a bit more chance of getting some grip on the ride and spary some WD40 on it. I think the molecules that make up the lube will act like bigger knobs than the rubber ones that are supposed to be there
Just thinking how slippery it was in spots out there yesterday
There are a couple of creek crossings, one can be a little deep but they will be cold :laugh:

do the muddy bits freeze in the blue mtns?:dry:
i have seen frozen puddles, mud and roads in england
