Is there any parents on here, who’s kid has a messier room than this? I told him no riding untill it is sorted, am I being a bit hard?

Hard NO – Tell him to get in there and clean that bloody mess up. Jesus Christ it’s a wonder he can find his bed in there.

Or better still Mick, if he doesn’t clean his room tell him that you will do it for him. Bring the bin inside and start loading it up. Don’t worry about what goes in, chuck the lot. He will either comply or call your bluff – risk you got to take.

On a side note Taylah’s room used to look pretty much like that until Kylie done the big clean up, Emma’s room is pretty much on par with Connor’s. I have asked Emma when is she going to clean the mess up and she turned around and told me that her Mother was going to do it. Might be a case of bringing the bin in and start loading it up. Emma wouldn’t give a crap though.

take the plug out of his bike and tell him you hid it in his room so if he want to ride he needs to find the pspark plug by cleaning up his room

Ha,I like the way you think Boony!! Trouble is he’d just pinch a plug out of something else in the shed or go and buy another at the shop.

His defence is, that he has exceeded the SWL (safe working load) of his designated space.A new bigger room is on it’s way.

OMG I know exactly how you feel Mick. This was Taylah’s room not so long ago and we tried the ‘you’re not going anywhere until it’s cleaned up’ mantra but that didn’t work because she doesn’t like going out anyway. I did end up taking the hard line with her though and one weekend when she was staying at a friends I got a heap of garbage bags and chucked out everything except what she got for Xmas last year. Initially she got a bit of a shock but she is actually a lot happier with her room now and has actually kept it clean because she likes it so much. I never would have said that would happen but they are always full of surprises.

The funniest thing is that Emma now keeps asking me when I am going to do the same to hers

    Psycho’s!

I guess the thing that I learned from this is when it comes to your children, don’t give up. Just when you think that they will never change, they surprise you by doing so.
