Let us how the rachet mechanism holds up. I had similar ones that quickly destroyed themselves.

I like the colour though :P

another Stigma, ALDI spells realistic prices without substituting quality. I also got a Sydway street directory from there for $20 bucks cheaper than any where else

They are made to a standard which has been affixed to the webbing

    australian standard 4380

they are not from the $2 shop:dry:

No I believe they are not substituting quality, that is why I steer clear of the ones you get from Kmart or the auto shops. I had a real good look at these and primarily focused on the ratchet mechanism and the stitching and its all good. Just goes to show you the profit margin bike shops put on gear (which I might say is not always Quality even though you are paying a quality sum of hard earned)

My decision to buy was re-enforced with the affixed Australian standard conformance (and the pretty colors:laugh: )

OK im off my soap box

I reckon they’d be fine for occasional use. Chances are they might just not ratchet so well after a while.

I wasn’t being negative about these straps just merely interested to see if the rachet mech. holds up ok. If it does they would be good value. Ollie knows his stuff and isn’t stupid so I’m sure they will go alright.

Since using the other type of tie downs I wouldn’t use rachet straps (no matter how good quality they were) for my bike now anyway as they are too fiddly :)

Funny you say that Moto, As I only use ratchet straps now:laugh: Generally I have a normal cam lock on the inside, then use the ratchet to pull it all down nice and snug. My other ratchet Tie downs are made by Spanset(an aussie company at Western Sydney)They have proven very reliable since ive had them which is about 8 yearsB) Like anything a little TLC goes a long way.

Yeah, each to their own :) I saw a few guys with the type of strap I have and had the opportunity to get some cheap so I did. Since then I love them and have a tainted experience with rachet tie downs. That said, they were only cheap ones and weren’t very well made. If all of the rachet mech. is well put together and robust there is no reason that they shouldn’t be great.

Still more fiddly than my current straps though :P
