June 19, 2009 at 5:01 am #140037ummm,
supid Q? time!:S
how do you balance the wheels with this piece of equipment?
i can see how it would work to lace em up.
June 19, 2009 at 6:05 am #140111well XY, from my childhood days, im remembering, you put all the spokes in by hand loosely on a bench, then mark 4 spots on the inside of the rim woth a texta dot, i used to use the valve hole as one so that you have a reference point. then put the axle in the hub and rest it on the bearings so it can spin, then you nip the spokes up in these four areas, to get it roughly centre vertically and horizontally. then you do the rest, giving and taking until you get the wheel to spin on the axle straight, like with no buckles and sh!t, and you have all the spokes tightened up enough…….simple, once youve done a couple:laugh:
i think the proper wording is “trueing” the wheels as in get them perfectly straight, on both axis.
kabish???
June 19, 2009 at 6:25 am #140038yeah i Capiche. ( google has made the dictionary redundant:lol: )
i knew how it wold be used if it is to true the wheels;)
i was just unclear how you determined where and how much lead to add to balance em.
just had to ask, as you know i’m a bit slow on the uptake:blush:
June 19, 2009 at 7:54 am #140115Nah huh!
No lead!
Lead is baad mmmkay?
June 19, 2009 at 8:14 am #140126lead????
lead slows you down XY….
how will you smash us all at the snow with your smicko new tyres if you put lead on the rims????????????

Anonymouswhen i laced a wheel (kdx200, so a while ago), i think i just used the bike as the wheel stand (no chain and spread the pads to reduce drag). that way i don’t have a wheel stand clogging up the workshop.
