July 7, 2009 at 12:31 am #142489Doesn’t the Wr have an electric leg?
July 7, 2009 at 12:42 am #142490yeh it does thats what i meant by kicking it over when its cold it winds over and over then i think i,m gonna flatten the battery
July 7, 2009 at 1:00 am #142499I’m no expert Novice but I saw on tv one time where the guy was having the trouble starting his cold baike and someone told him to wind the throttle open slowly 3 times and try and it fired straight up. I think it may have een Charlie Boorman’s bike on Race to Dakar. I usually do that and it mostly seems to work.
July 7, 2009 at 1:02 am #142500My Wr450 had a similar problem but after a service at the bike shop instead of my ussual half arsed effort in the shed it hasn’t done it since. When my bike is cold I just make sure that the choke is pulled out and the fuel is turned on B4 I put my gear on and it ussualy fires first press.
July 7, 2009 at 1:29 am #142501I actually find on the 250 that winding the throttle quickly a couple of times whilst holding the electric button helps start it quickly, without doing this it seems to take ages.

July 7, 2009 at 6:36 am #142502The electric leg on the WR is supposed to be used when the engine has already been run. You should start the WR from the kicker when cold.

Where did you get this info from as I have read every owners manual my bike came with and I can’t find that info anywhere.

I have heard a KTM salesman say the say thing, I thought its pretty common throughout the industry that the electric leg is called a restart aid, the KTM salesman said you should always kick start unless its a snotty hill or you are in a hurry, so I would agree with Ollie this time

Cant remember now The Wr is long gone. May have been a dealer or another forum. It was just something that I always did as well. Also the battery is not real big.
