    Hey there,

I’ve been without a bike for a couple of years but should be picking up an ’05 WR250 in the next couple of days.

Any reports or things to look for before handing over the cash?:)

    hi Ace,

good to read your gettin a bike;)

the only thing i can think of looking for is a scratched swing arm;)

    :P😛 :P :P :P

if it starts easy with the kick= valves don’t need adjusting, if it’s noisy/rattely when running.

also if it blows blue smoke once it’s hot/ been running for a while.

maybe look at the bottom of the engine cases for damage, same for under the rear guard= maybe flipped, ends of the bars/ bark busters/ muffler, exhaust pipe= been dropped- slid along on its side.

hope you get some real, useful info soon.

    your a funny bugger XY:laugh:

check the condition of the oil on the stick for a start, also bodgey rounded nuts and bolts, check the linkages for side to side movement as these are expsensive to repair,Has it got a service history? how many K’s/hours? wheel bearings chain and sprockets. Do the electrics work as they are designed. basicly what you would check on any bike

    cheers Ollie

    Thanks guys,

    Thats a good start.

TB knows how particular i am with some things (sock folding for 1 eh TB):silly: so i will be making sure that there aren’t any scratches on the swing arm etc…

Can’t wait to get out on the trails, but will spend a bit of time getting it prepping it first.

I rode an ’02 a few years ago and just felt it was a great user friendly bike, unlike that 525 i got talked into:angry:

Thanks for your help. I’ll let you know how i get on :)
