I’ve been looking at the easy trailers and I notice they have what they call a wheel lock as an optional attachment.
Their spiel says that you won’t have to tie your bike down when using them but I reckon they look a bit ordinary by themselves but along with ktmrat’s wheel web they could be ok. What do you guys think?
I reckon you ought to start hassling them rat in fact I’ll be your agent if you like

That wheel brace I have seen on my brother’s ET. It’s very heavy duty (read heavy).
He uses it to transport his Harley.
Would I trust it without tie downs? No way.I made up a wheel brace from perlin cut-offs from a shed maker. Weighs about 2kg all up. A couple of angle iron cut offs on the front of the trailer for the tie down hooks – done.
August 3, 2009 at 6:18 am #145991Good on ya mate, I thought that’d be the case and for $140ea I would want them to be the complete kit to eliminate the need for tie downs like the lock downs that ballards sells for $240 I reckon they look pretty simple in concept.
Any feedback on the easy trailer? they look very light duty but then I shouldn’t be giving it too hard a time anyway.
August 3, 2009 at 8:32 am #146704Light duty? Well, I don’t agree. If you loaded it up with 3 bikes to do the Birdsville track then your looking for trouble….
I only carry one bike because the 2L camry that tows it protests enough with it and a bike (only ~200kg). A 9×6 trailer with one bike didn’t allow the car to reach 100km/h (that’s how gutless my car is).
The only week point I see is the standard tow hitch. I removed mine and replaced it with an after market cast iron one ($30-40).
The trailer has plenty of flex which is good. It will flex all day without breaking with serious weight on it. Springs are good enough for 3 bikes, too stiff for just my one. I’ve overtaken with it at 140+ km/h, no dramas.In summary, if you want to tow 1-2 bikes without the need for the trailer to do anything else = easy trailer. If you have a gutless car that hates towing = easy trailer. If you have a good car and need a trailer for hauling bags of concrete, gravel and the like = box trailer. If you like bling = get a proper bike trailer made up with shiny alloys.

thanks for the write up axel. I have a newish diesel triton 4×4 which would have no problems towing – the easy trailer is just a luxury so I don’t have to struggle to load/unload plus then I can put the ute lid back on and keep all my gear in there and being able to fold it and stand it up means I can keep it in the garage because I live in a townhouse.
August 4, 2009 at 3:40 am #146851I forgot about the folding up. It’s a great feature. I use it. I store the trailer under the eaves of the house against the wall.
Your 4bie will pull anything.
I say get one with the formply, put a good hitch on the end of it. All good.Pictures tell 1000….

The formply I purchased locally which was more expensive than getting it from Easytrailer! Darn it.
