Dan, Boulder, Kylie, Chicken and myself are going riding up at Barrington Tops on the 29th of this month.
We are scouting tracks for future rides and checking some old routes I used up there many many moons ago.
We will leave Gloucester travel through the tops to Moonan Flat for lunch and fuel and back via a different route.

The idea will be to maybe repeat this in years to come in summer as a group, camp etc Also part of this route will also be next years Sydney Brisbane ride

Yea hah another ride – I can’t wait. I reckon I am going to have to take Jeffro’s title of ride whore.

Will big tanks be the order of the day TB?

    This looks interesting.

The Beemer has a range of 100Ks on dirt, I see on the map a straight line from Gloucester to Monan Flat is 70ks.
If I carry a couple of litres reserve I might be OK.
    What do you think TB?
Is there a lot of single track or tricky stuff?

Although our kids are racing MX the next day, Moose and I might just come along for the ride.

Fuel range of 140km to 160km will be required thats why we all will have big tanks

Very little single, mainly twin trail and fire trails. Its a look see ride, will be checking tracks out lots of turn arounds etc

Hang on Beemmer, wait till this arvo there maybe a change and the range could be around 110km or even less

I have just spoken to TB, regarding ride grade and fuel range should be able to get it down to 120kms and this ride could become tricky in some spots as we are not 100% sure of the route that we will be taking. So no grade is available. There could be some big up and down hills and some real snotty stuff as well. It is an exploration ride so there probably will be a lot of turn arounds.

This ride is capped at 10 riders – list so far:

    1.TB
    2.DanD
    3.KylieD
    4.Boulder
    5.Chicken
    6.Micknmeld
    7.Moose
    8.Wikdbeemer
    9.
    10.

Just to add to Dan’s post, because it is fairly remote where we are going and would be a pain to go and get a vehicle to pick up a bike can everyone carry the necessary trail bits and pieces as normal, joining link, spark plug, tools, tube etc

Lunch will be at Moonan Flat Pub

If there is a change and the range is around 110 km or less I’ll put my name down:cheer: but if longer I’m out:(

The trouble kram140 is that we only have to get slightly geographically challenged (lost) and that can add 20 kms without blinking

Will let you know soon what we workout ;)

Thanks for including me, I will carry a couple of litres in my pack and a few extra tools.
I will bring my color GPS too, it has topo maps as well as the Garmin maps.

About the grade, if Kylie is keen for this ride and confident then I guess I could manage to keep up (although she was passing me on the last ride)

People do not try to gauge a ride on Kylie’s ability,,I seen her do things sunday that some fair riders I know won`t attempt. I think we need another yardstick, Kylie is up there with the us mid rangers and will probably progress every ride from now on.

    thread back sorry.

Gosh Boony I am blushing just reading that. I still need a lot of practice but I am happy to just keep trying. TB’s tips from Saturday made a big difference me thinks and watching all of his dirtbike vid’s also helped. I recently watched Charlie Boorman’s Paris to Dakar DVD and reckon that it would be absolutely fantastic to try that one year. I never will because it’s too expensive and too dangerous but the thought of it really gets my heart pumping.

TB actually thinks I might be able to do the Sydney to Brisbane ride next year and I am so keen to do that but I have to work on my stamina and mindset.

    Once again,
