I went into the local dealership this week looking for a new bracket for my handguard that i broke on the weekend.I was asked if i still had the genuine yamaha handguards on and when i said yes i was told i was out of luck as you cant buy spare parts. My two options were to buy the whole new set of handguards or put on barkbuster brackets.I chose the Yami over the ktm due to the cost and availability of parts, very frustrating.

Is it a brand problem or a dealer problem

    Try contacting Kylie at http://www.inskipmotorcycles.com.au/

Please tell her Greg from Old Bulls sent you

(may help with securing a Yamaha site dealer)

They will send anything you need

Its a brand problem TB,My 5 week old bike has genuine Yamaha handguards that you cannot buy parts for.But they will happily sell me the same full set of handguards. You would think they would sell parts,i have bought a set of barkbuster brackets that will do the job.Im just surprised that Yamaha will sell a product that you cant buy parts for if you have a problem.

That is too bad Adrian about the gaurd.

I highly recommend Inskips though, as there has been times when they have helped me out of a bind at the eleventh hour before. But make sure that you talk to Kylie at Inskips and tell her that you are an Old Bull and Greg told you to ring.

Adrian, the stock handguards are pretty crappy regardless, it is probably worth changing to the BB mounts anyway. I intend to once the standard ones crap out on me, which will not be too far away I think. Badly designed I reckon.
