Just starting the ride report now. Had a great two days in the Rydal area with Twobanger on Friday and TB & Crash today. Thanks for coming up guys and hope you enjoyed the riding. Not many tracks to do but quality stuff. I’ll post a better report and pics soon.

September 5, 2009 at 11:21 am #151177Firstly a big thanks to Mal for sharing his back yard with Crash and I.
We arrived up at the arranged meeting place and unloaded the bikes, as we started suiting up Mal arrived with the smoker, like a thorn in the roses
We left and got straight into it, very quickly noticed how slippery it was, but was super impressed by my IRC rear which has done some work now and it still hooked up as well as good be expected in the conditions. We did heaps of sweet single.
Here Mal leads off, Crash was slow to start his bike so I chased Mal down

Crash and I chase Mal, I am talking with Crash via the blue tooth if you listen

Crash had a of at the bottom of a big down hill on a rough fire trail between the singles and knocked his head pretty hard
We kept going, and found a little play hill

there are so many tracks and all good quality it was a little rocky in spots but nothing to detract from the tracks. We returned to the cars and had a quick bite and a drink. We left and went back out, I had a little lay down at walking pace when I cross rutted a down hill. We rode some more singles and decided to go to Rydal Pub for a beverage as almost backs onto the forest just before we got there Crash had gone onto reserve as he hadn’t filled his tank, Mal and I laughed that most of it had spilled as Crash had a couple of drops during the day and struggled on a hill or two.
Within two kilometres I went onto reserve as well, which was puzzling as I had fitted my standard tank for the ride and it was full when we left home
Once at the Pub we ran into a Hen’s party in progress,
they loved the big man and the poka dot jersey, so I say in you face all those that have hung shit on my jersey especially you Ollie take a fashion lesson, the girls wanted some photos with me so who am I to refuse the lovely young ladies
We rode back to the cars, loaded and went to the pub for a late lunch, good lunch I may add
Cheers again Mal nice ride

September 5, 2009 at 11:48 am #151184This is two ride reports in one.
Friday Twobanger came for a morning fang around the Rydal area. We were on the bikes by 8:30am and off for a bit of a warm up on a couple of erosion mounded hills. Then into the first section of single tracks. With a nice drop of rain on Thursday and through the night the tracks were nice and damp and the tree roots very slippery. After the first couple of singles we stopped for a gas bag and a rest. Then off into the next two sections of nice flowing singles. There were a few trees and branches across the tracks from the recent wild weather we had. One slippery branch caught me out half way up a hill and I was spat up onto the high side of the bank and stalled. Went to put the foot down and the ground was too far away, over I go just as twobanger turned and had a laugh. After that we came onto a fire trial and up a semi rocky hill. Then I gave twobanger a choice of tracks. This way we head for the dam and this way is a few hills and nice single track and we loop back and head to the dam. Twobanger picks the track with a few hills. He had been on it before but not in the wet I believe. One two three hills and we’re just scraping up with a stall here and there. Then we get to the last hill and I say this will be slippery. And it was. Twobanger had four goes and then we pushed him up. I had three goes and then we pushed mine up. In the dry this hill relatively easy but with a little rain it just turns to grease.
At the end of the hills track we looped back around and headed towards the back waters of the dam. Crossed the river/creek and headed for a nice single track that heads pretty much straight up for what seems forever. A fire trail winds its way back down and we crossed the river at a different spot. A couple more rocky hills and then back into some single track that leads into a sweet (in the dry)single in the pine trees. In the wet this track feels deadly as the tree roots all decide to grow at an angle just mess your day up. Twobanger then showed me another single so I could link it in for TB & Crash today and make it look like I knew where I was going.Twobanger on the slippery hill
Attemp No.2 I think
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChD8044u058We headed back to cars and had a bit to eat then headed back out for an hour of just touring around looking for tracks and rerode some of the singles. All up there is only about 3 – 4 hours of riding, but it’s all quality stuff. Thanks Twobanger for coming up for a ride.
Today was pretty much the same tracks. Except for the hills track as TB didn’t want to have to lift his bike with the bung shoulder (if he happened to drop it). After doing the same loop as Friday we had a snack at the cars and headed off to do them in reverse and add one more near Rydal itself. Cash had a couple of quick dirt naps. TB wanted have a look at the hills track. So we did the first two hills and it was very slippery on them so we turned around before getting to the real slippery stuff.
On the way back we decided to drop into the Rydal Pub for a beer. We pull up and there is a bus load of young girls on a Hens party…. They took a shine to Crash who was putting on his best ‘Blue Steel’ look . Then the pokadot clown (TB) walks in and the girls go wild. Not one to let an opportunity pass, TB gets his photo taken with all of them. He will post it up. Low on fuel we head back to the cars and it’s only 12:00. So we pack up and go to Tarana Pub for lunch.
Great couple of days riding with great guys. Thanks Twobanger for Friday and TB & Crash for today.
Husky is going great and I’m getting more confidant on it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbsCXKQlnQk

Remember kiddies always where a helmet. This guy is a professional and this should not be tried unless TB is there to guilt you into it.

September 6, 2009 at 1:51 am #151189As the boys have already written and pictured, we had a terrific morning out near Rydal. Some sweet single, uphills & downhills linked with some fun twin and fire. The usual care had to be taken when flicking through the single in the pine forest for those bastard tree roots! Those slippery, sneaky little suckers are just waiting to spear you into a tree or slap you down for a face plant.
Speaking of planting ones’ face, I had a ripper when we were flying down a little nothing fire trail when I loaded up the side of my front tyre and it just felt like it rolled off the rim….and down I went….SMACK….it seemed a little early for the stars to be out! I had a little sit (looked more like a prayer), then shook my head like one of those cartoon characters that has just had a piano dropped on their head. Then we were off again. I think that’s the price you pay for running a moose that needs re-packing!
Mal did a great job leading us through some of his lush tracks, and we did this for a few hours before returning to base for a feed. We then went back at it for another few hours until the fuel was running low. We thought, what better way to top off a perfect mornings ride, than with a cool beer or rumski at the small, quiet local country town pub. Mal and I walk into the bar and are just about to order, when the bartender says “hang on fellas, I’ve just got to take care of something…righto girls in you come” In shuffle about 16 lovely young ladies, all in fancy dress, on a hens day local establishment tour! We couldn’t believe our eyes! Mal commented that “he’d never seen that many barmaids working the taps here before!” They were just getting a photo behind the bar and there were laughs all ‘round. What a top crew. THEN, in walks the big Polka Dotted unit. You could see the thoughts ticking over in the girls minds “I didn’t order this? Who did? What’s he going to do? Anyhow, TB agreed to a few photos or ten and they drove off in their chauffeur driven minibus to continue their memorable day……if they’d remember any of it by morning…..it was only about 12.30pm I think!
We ordered a drink, and had a chat whilst having a little rest. Then we rode back to base to pack up. We headed for Tarana pub for lunch and a de-brief.
Said our goodbyes to Mal, dropped TB home and headed for home myself. Unloaded, washed bike, dumped gear outside laundry (fathers day tomorrow, so I should get away with that) and inside just before 6pm……….TOP DAY OUT!Thank again Mal for sharing some of your local knowledge.
Thanks TB for…………ummm……uummm………being TB.Crash

Yeh they were good. We had a bit more rain on Friday night. I didn’t want to go down that track but TB wanted a look. The track just up the road was the one we wanted. Next time mate.Still amazed at how much greasier that hill is than the others.

AnonymousSounds like a good ride had by all. Excellent reports, pics and vids fellas.
I was going to try and put something witty about the dildo that was going towards TB’s ear, but I think I will just let it go.
