AnonymousWell I said farewell to the Scorpio on Thursday with a tear in my eye.
Tears of happiness that was because now I could 100% focus on getting the replacement.
So after 1.5 days of mad Ebay, Bikepoint, Trading Post searching, I found my new DRZ 400 in the Newcastle Herald. :cheer:
Mind you that was after getting up last Monday morning and driving to Coffs Harbour because I had won one on Ebay. Turns out that the bike wouldn’t go though so it ended up being a nice day for a drive.
Anyway because I am very impatient I found one at Frasers at Wollongong last night and was ready to pop in the car last night and take the trailer down there for when they opened this morning to buy it. Fortunately I was too tired to do that last night so we got the paper really early this morning and fate stepped in because there was 1 DR in it and it was just what I wanted.
So DanD rings up at 7:15 this morning to tell the guy that we will be there in 20 mins. The guy asks what time it is then says come by at 8:30. He was still in bed!
So we try to wait but get impatient so we head off early anyway. We turn up and can tell very quickly that we would be buying the bike. It’s a 2006 model with 2,000 odd km’s on it. It had a flat battery so it had to be jumped but started OK and ran really well. The only problem is that it is unregistered. Well that’s what I thought at first but after talking to TB realised that his is actually good thing at the moment because here’s the plan:
We are going to motard it. :woohoo:
I am trying to get some bling bling motard wheels, tyres, discs from Ebay at the moment so that’s the first step.
It’s already got a staintune muffler on it so that’s taken care of.
TB has some other ideas to bling it up but I can’t remember what they were.I made my first purchase for it today as it needed a new battery. TB and Eagle installed it for me today and they waited for me to come home to let me take the first ride on it. Aren’t they nice? I offered to let them have a go after I came back but they didn’t want to break it on me or something they said.
Here’s some pictures of it that I took tonight
I don’t actually like the headlight assembly but we got the original one with it as well so I can always change it back.
I will probably give it a good wash tomorrow because the guy didn’t even wash it before putting it up for sale.
So as much as it pains me to do this I am going to wait until it’s all converted before registering it. :S
September 12, 2009 at 11:49 am #152308Nice one Kylie.
Looks like it’s in really good condition. They go better with the Staintune header pipe as well, more grunt off the idle – 1st 1/4 throttle.
You gotta loose that dorky tail light though
September 12, 2009 at 12:18 pm #152309Are they paying out on Beagle after the 30c re-build?

September 12, 2009 at 8:28 pm #152326actually I don’t mind the headlight that is on it, it looks the same as the one on Boulders Narny.
BTW congrats on the new purchase,it won’t be long before you will be backing it into corners, once you get the motard set up. :woohoo:

September 13, 2009 at 1:00 am #152312Welcome to the fold Kylie. Sound’s like a fun project, a DRZ motard will be a much better caffe racer than the scorpio. I am surprised to see a non Yamaha in the D’s fleet though.
I’ve been tempted to get a set of motard wheels for my DRZ but simple don’t trust myself on the road.
Here’s a web sight I got my led tail light from. They do a bit of bling stuff for DRZ400SM’s. http://www.wheelingcyclesupply.com/index.shtml
Here’s a little inspiration

Hey Jeffro. The problem was as it always is, that I had a go another bike i.e.Chop’s DR and I loved it. It accelerated heaps quicker than the Scorpio. I also wanted something that sounded and looked a bit more…..blingy.
As much as I enjoyed riding the scorpio I used to get real embarrassed when I would take it in town for a ride and be riding either in front or behind all these souped up big bikes and I was on my farty little 225. I know the DR is only a 400 but it’s going to have the bling factor so that will make up for it.
September 13, 2009 at 6:42 am #152353Whats doing with the WRR Kylie? Keeping it? a bike for all occassions
