    This is a picture of our riding grounds currently under hazard reduction burning,, This means new tracks can be cut in as soon as everything settles down, The photo shows the smoke in the area of that big long up hill that went on for ever..

    Its good that back burning operations are getting done. Given the limited amount of rain that we have had over winter I would say that this summer is going to be a bad one for fires. Hopefully the knob jockeys that feel it a good idea to light fires re think their stupid acts.

    Do you think that since the Victorian fires, back burning operations are happening more?

    If they haven’t Dan, they will. There are a lot of changes planned for a lot of industries. Look out for a new (ridiculously strict) building code for bushfire prone land. Just when they were starting to see common sense too. :dry:

    Not a huge fan of riding burnt out areas – those dead sticks hurt like a bastard! :laugh:

    those sticks might hurt, however with most of the undergroth gone it will be a lot easiser to make new tracks through the heavy timbered areas…
    I think they are ledgends for burning off in areas where people visit ie: ride their bikes. , probably save the inevatable from happening anyway. Only takes 1 flicked smoke but from a tired rider and she`s all over rover..

    Legends indeed! Got a lot of time for the RFS lads, had a few hairy experiences myself on the back of a RFS truck.

    The only thing iffy about my experiences involved fire fronts 10m high, broken radios and a firefighting plane. Nothing brokeback about it thanks! ;)

    a few blokes went up therte on the week end(Sunday) 18 in the group…came across the RFS and they were vewy vewy angry….Apparently on Concil land or something,bloody sign was probably burnt to a crisp :ohmy:

    Yeah….part of that Lyndon heffernan riding school….i’ll see if i can get the big unit to post a ride report.

    from the creeks right up to the berry patch has been burnt out.Apparently choppers were dropping incindentaries right near em..they were beeing bombed…sounds like fun
