I’m wanting to put a dampener on my WR300 Husky and maybe swap it to the Sherco when needed (if I can find/make a mounting kit).

What are your thoughts on different brands. Scotts seem to be very popular not i’m not keen on the small knobs for adjustment, but wont rule them out yet. There is a brand called Motosportz that do a lot of Husky gear and there dampeners sound ok.

I’ve run two brands before on dirt bikes – WER, and Scotts (Ohlins)
.IMO Both are better then no damper.
Dirt rider in the usa loves the scotts, and I’m happy with it, and would spend the money again.

at the end of the day you either go with what you can afford,
go with the best value or
go with the best reputation(without cost consideration).

Scotts wins my vote, but WER was good too. I could feel the adjustment on the WER more then I can the scotts, which sometomes has me wondering whether it is working ( a sign of a good product!
My only wish – I’d gone with the under bar setup for the scotts. It’d lift the bars a tad and would remove that niggling voice in the back of my mind that says (go over the bars and it’ll tear your nuts wide open

I’ve got a MSC Titan on the 450. What a great thing those steering dampeners are. After having one you can really notice when you ride a bike without one.

I am totally sold that they are money well spent whatever brand/model that you get.

I have run a WER a MSC (current) and a ROC as fitted to the DR project bike and some limited experience with the Scott Ohlins.

And as far as dampers go I feel an under bar mount is the go as I have one on my bike and think its the go for standing up more

I would trade and am going to trade my MSC for a Scott Ohlins as I like the adjustment set up on the Scotts

Shit man I’m already travelling at warp speed, wheres the need to go light speed.
Sorry admin before you cann this, I do have something half sensible to say–FOR CHRIST SAKE, BEFORE THESE FANDANGLED INVENTIONS WE DID PRETTY GOOD—KEEP THE FRONT WHEEL OFF THE GROUND AND THERE IS NO ISSUE. OOps I didn’t mean to yell, hope the missus didn;t freak

I can’t with go under bar on the Sherco as I like the bar high and have tried higher bars. The Husky I haven’t tried higher bars yet (I haven’t had the bike for three weeks either).

I have always being concerned about ripping my nuts off in an over the bars excursion, but a pad over the dampener may reduce the dammage.

I had a look at Champos WER and it needs welding to the head stock. Not overly keen on welding on the Husky.

You know what Murph I said the same thing, “I have been riding and racing for 28 years without a damper, why would I need one now”

All I can say is Murph you have never ridden or owned a bike with a damper based on that rant. I will never own a bike any brand any model without one

Mal you dont have to weld! you can Rivet or bolt a bracket on. The WER are very good Dampeners although a little hard to adjust on the fly! I also have ROC Stomper,it goes pretty good but I tend to bump it off sometimes,I think the new ones have been changed somewhat. What about GPR good units at a good price?

Murph people used to say the same thing about disc brakes and mono shock suspensions with 300mm of travel but I bet you wouldn’t go back to drums and twin shocks. It’s just evolution of the sport.

    Well, Well well wellw ell
Your more than likely right there TB, but I’m not sure if I can afford one as I’m running two bikes (not now, but I have to rebuild one after some nasty accident)

Does anybody know anything about the RRT unit. Very neat looking being intergrated into the triple clamp with a remote bar mounted adjuster. Not sure on pricing but according to their web site http://www.rttmotorsports.com there are two dealers in Australia.
