The start of daylight savings heralds the start of our regular afternoon flat track shenanigans at Moose’s farm. These are great afternoons for young and old alike, the kids love the opportunity to get on the track and give their bikes what for and the racing that ensues is always entertaining.
With TB and Salina in town it was decided that he would bring their boys out for the afternoon and we would have a few beers and watch the kids go round.
We had a fair crew there ripping around the trackKieran had a great time on Taylah’s pro senior, I think he did more laps than any other kid,he managed to burn 2 tanks of fuel!!!!
Lauchie, spent his time on the track getting used to his new Kato85
He soon got involved in some racing too,
This other big kid couldn’t help himself and soon got himself involved in some racing
Love the wooden leg approachThe poor YZ125 got a work out, smoke was still coming out of the pipe 10 minutes after he stopped!!
All bets were off when George went out and had a bit of a dice with him.
Taylah is taking to the 65 well
She doesn’t like getting passed
A bit of bike swapping goes on too, here’s Connor doing a hot lap on Lauchie’s Kato
We did have on really scary moment that put the wind up me like you wouldn’t believe!!
My neice decided she wanted to learn how to ride a motorbike so we took Taylah’s old PW50 out so she could have a go. After teaching her the basics, she was ready to have a go on the track. She was going really well for someone who had only just learnt to ride a pushbike and managed to do 2 laps without incedent. That soon changed as she came back to where the cars were parked and all of a sudden she just held the little PW fully pinned and lined up the side of a certain black car owned by a multi national diesel engine company. With the engine screaming she was headed for a major impact with the rear quarter panel of said company car, when at the last minute she managed to steer behind the car.Only trouble was there happened to be a motorcycle trailer connected to the back of the black car and she hit the trailer head on with the throttle still fully pinned!!
It was a sickening impact as she rag dolled, hitting her head on the trailer and the front of the PW exploded in a shower of oil as the 2 stoke oil tank ruptured spraying all and sundry with red 2 stroke oil , which at first glance look for all money like blood. She was a very lucky girl to get out of it with a minor scratch on her hip. I am still counting my blessings,if she had of been hurt her mother would be now wearing my goolies as a necklace. She fared well, out of what could have been a much more serious accident. Isn’t it funny that on a 100 acre property she managed to line up a car!! The PW didn’t fare so well though, I am up for a new oil tank and front guard and number plate assembly and god knows what else at this stage..Apart from that little misadventure it was a great arvo, as it got to dark to ride we retired back to Moose’s place for a few drinks and a BBQ
Moose doing the duties
The bench racing continued well into the night. I ended up in a bit of a state and now have to go back out to Mooses place to retrieve my car and the bikes sometime today.
A great way to spend an afternoon with my kids and mates.

AnonymousHa ha, funny report Mick! Well, except for your neice nearly totalling herself, glad she is okay…along with cars and other property
October 9, 2009 at 11:07 pm #155827Nice work their Mick, BTW is their an RSPCA for motorbikes  That big unit on that little Suzuki and YZ is totally cruel  If you had a video camera running when your niece hit the trailer would have been a contender for funniest home video :woohoo: Glad she came out alright.
and I agree gotta love daylight savings

October 9, 2009 at 11:11 pm #155828I wish I had made it there like planned Mick, But the school went near to dark with the 125cc crew yesterday, and I am so glad the niece is OK, I had a similar one with my nephew a few years back, he T-Boned my 4wd straight into the front gaurd and snapped off the front forks(both of them), amazingly he was unscathed – (totally to me surprise), and yes the wooden leg approach and exit of the fat man is hilarious, no wonder he is so slow, at least if we need firewood we can always take his leg, I know maybe he thought he was going to scrape the hangers around the corners, It is always great fun with your kids doing this stuff, I promise Moose I will be there next time
October 9, 2009 at 11:14 pm #155833I may have one of those oil reservoirs in stock Mick, I will let you know
October 9, 2009 at 11:25 pm #155834Thanks Dave,I would like to keep this particular bike stock.
October 10, 2009 at 1:53 am #155839Way Cool Mick, sometimes the best fun is had mucking around with mates and kids in the paddock, reminds me of family get togethers when I was a nipper and my roadbike riding uncles would take turns at wrecking our racebikes… usually picking themselves off the ground mumbling about “powerbands and peaky little mongrels”
TB obviously isn’t used to that sort of cornering prowess from a bike so the counterbalance come out of fear….
And the 125 does appear to be sitting low in the stroke there doesn’t it…. has the sterring angle changed since ???

Bruce the steering angle is fine it is ridden by a 45-kilo kid so yeah it squats when I am on it and accelerating, hows that sound
Dave at least I turned up but you got an excuse as always
Ollie no one passed me all day, oh, you would understand that although I had nothing when George and I went at it for five laps
