heres half a ride report- reason explained further down, murph or champo will have to add to it.
greeted by blue skies and damp track, conditions were great for a days riding.
At the start line was Morgo
Sam
Murph
Dusty
Soxy
ChampoAlthough Murph`s morning wasnt without drama, a preride check revealed front bearings stuffed.a quick trip into Inskips to meet them opening the shop and murph was back in business.
trails were moist but not slippery like last week, being monday not a soul about.10 minutes into the ride and my hand cramps started. gotta work this out- gonna try thicker hand grips first up .
anyway we sliced thru single trail and fire trail to awaba then on to sugarloaf area for our usual singles loops. Dusty got snagged on a stump , stepped off and ripped the front guard from his KTM300. KTM chopper. some bush mechanic work and we were away.
after single loop and up across `razorback` , down stone steps and on to the gap for lunch.
I have to dob myself in for a little lay down approaching the steps.. Champo has a photo.hamburgers were devoured for lunch, Soxy gets a call from his missus-cars broke down- he leaves us to rescue the car.
Sam ( son of Morgo ), is a type1 diabetic, running on an insulin pump– finds that the pump canular has come out during the ride. usually he carries a spare as this has happenned before, but no spare today ..So sam and me hightail it home before his sugar levels get too high.
Shame on such a good ride, but these things happen and health comes first.SAm is not happy.Murph, champo and dusty continue on towards our bangalow loops……… to be continued by someone else.
Photos to come, conditions are great in this area at the moment.

AnonymousThanks morgo. Some notes on one of the most amazing rides yet
This was actually my 3rd trip to this neighbourhood in 3 days. Racy and I stopped into anfos house on the way back from Saturday’s ride, our ‘wild hogs’ gang, played on the Catalina ramp on Sunday, and the rooster worker ride on Monday.
I arrived at murphs to find him putting is fitting skills to work. Fastest wheel bearing fit ever.
morgo and sam have some of the sweetest riding areas that actually start across from their house. and conditions were perfect.
morgo led us through some of the most amazing trails. Murph swept the first sections. Thanks murph
sam should change his name to splash. Like a little kid, he loves to splash in puddles. I like to back off and go round them. Sam seems to enjoy heading into the deeper parts at speed. I wish I had his enthusiasm.
I always picture the lake mac area as dusty hard pack trashed by 4wd enthusiasts. Not with morgo and murph. Their version is deep dark single trail. I really appreciate my local area now. 98% of the trails are ones I have never been on before.
Like morgo said, sadly a few crew had leave at lunch.
Dusty hung in as long as he could but he had to head home not long after lunch. Which just left murph and myself to freight train his secret trails. It was a mix of rainforest types singles, long steep hills, very steep descent back out of the watagans and fast open trails with erosion control jumps every few seconds that go for kms. Whoever put in these jumps must ride dirt bikes because so many were put in when where not needed, and so many are actually table tops.
I mentioned to murph at one point that the day was like a 2t. crusiy lown low (morning), then screaming up top (afternoon)
It was amazing getting to sit behind murph (and try to keep up). He is very controlled, wheels always exactly where he wants them, heading in the direction he wants, only lets the bike wheels spin a little when he needs to move a little dirt to find better traction. I said this to him. But after over a 100km of mostly single trail, the front wheel slides out a few inches 100m from the end of the ride.
Stay tuned for photos

AnonymousSounds like fun was had by all. Shame about the dropouts but these things can’t be helped. Those trails near Murph’s place are great aren’t they Champo, I loved riding them when I was there too. Not sure I’ve done the track with the erosion mounds but will look forward to it in the future.
In the meantime I’ll look forward to the pics

Shame everybody left us halway through but they all had legit reasons
Champo, wished I got glowing reports from school like the one you wrote of my riding ability. I think there was something in that special milkshake you had at lunch that definately impaired your judgemnt  The money is in the mail mate

October 14, 2009 at 12:54 am #156139yeah it was a great ride.. thanks for puttin it on morgo. it’s always good see and ride different tracks even if ya know an area pretty well. it was certainly a challenge and i got to meet some oldbulls also. i had another stack on the way home aswell. one minute i was enjoyin a nice snotty downhill section and next thing i’m kissin the ground with my helmet and shoulder.i dont recall exactly what happened but i think my front end didnt agree with choice of line i was taken. anyway no major damage was done to me or the bike. glad murph and champo had some more fun in the arvo. thanks murph for being the sweep too mate.
have a good one

Some nice pics mate
The work computer won’t let me open any vids is all.
I drank too many Turkeys Monday night so I’m glad my home computer was dead as it would made for one of those messy, cryptic ride reports that nobody can understand. Come to think of it I can’t even understand them the next morning
Cheers
