Well on Monday DanD and I set off for another RDO adventure. We hadn’t planned on going out because I had been sick for a week but we were both off and what else are you going to do on your day off?

After dropping off the kids we headed out towards Killingworth to pre-ride next Sunday’s ride. DanD took me out over the pallet bridge and I can honestly tell you that I really don’t like going over that bridge. It has no railings and has about a 1.5 mtr drop each side. Although I have no problem riding in a straight line as soon as I see drops on each side I psyche myself out a bit. I got over it OK because it’s easy to ride but it just freaks me.

We then got a bit side-tracked and ended up attempting to get up a hill that even DanD didn’t get up. No doubt he would have got up it on his second attempt but we figured that it was more like a grade 5 hill so we turned around and headed back to where we were supposed to be.

We went up some hills that we did on the Jurds ride and some 4wd’s have been through and evened them out a lot. Everyone except the one that gave me a scar on my knee of course. I hate that hill. I got up it 5 times no problem before I came off and hurt my knee and now I really struggle with it. 3 times I tried it on Monday and on the last go when I came off near the top there was a near hissy fit and when DanD came to help I told him to back off because I was getting up this f%@king hill.

I got up of course but I was so cranky. I was really struggling because it turns out that my flu took more out of me than I thought but when DanD suggested that we stop for a break I told him no we would stop when we got to the gap servo.

The photo below is one bit of the track that until recently had been nearly impossible to go down. It’s now really easy. DanD rode down the bit where I was standing.

I rode down this section which looked easier to me except that I couldn’t get my feet to stay on the pegs.

Here is me riding the rut at the top of the hill I hate. You can’t really see how cranky I was here.

So we then headed up towards the gap servo doing what we call the hard gap run. It’s not really that hard just harder than the easy way. There are just a couple of hills that in the wet become nearly impassable but in the dry they are OK.

We stopped at the gap servo for a Mother and a Mars Bar.

We then headed back via the easy gap run because there is some real tricky single trail back along that way. We rode a section that we had done a few times before and then went onto a section that we hadn’t. This section is very difficult and that’s not coming from me but DanD. It is very tight, very hilly and rocky. You would thoroughly enjoy it!

I actually didn’t find out until later that at one point there was a sign that said H or E. Of course DanD picked the H way. I didn’t even see the sign. Anyway by the time we got through it we were exhausted so we started to head back. At this point both of us started cramping up because it was about 28 degrees.

On the way back we came across a disturbing sight. In order to get down a track we had to go around this pile of rubbish that had been dumped.

    PA310122Small.jpg

This was taken from the other side of it but on the front there were whitegoods and larger items that had also been dumped. It was literally a truck load of rubbish.

Just 20 metres down from this pile we then came across this pile.

    PA310120Small.jpg
    PA310121Small.jpg

Here we actually stopped because if you didn’t already know this, if you can get enough evidence out of the rubbish that’s been dumped the dumper can actually get fined. So we started scrounging through the rubbish and found quite a few documents that showed who dumped it so I took photo’s of it and then sent them to the Council Rangers to investigate.

This type of behavious is disgusting. You go riding through some real nice bush only to find this type of eyesore. Anyway I hope the Rangers are able to prosecute the dumper. Keep this in mind and if you do happen to see this in the bush, take photo’s and then ring Council. They will investigate it.

Anyway after this we went back along the powerlines to Killingworth and then on the road to home. They were doing roadworks on the way back and when we went past the water truck spraying the road I nearly rode under the sprays at the back to cool down. It was so hot.

We got home and TB rings as soon as we open the garage door. I asked him if he had a camera on us.

We then even went for a dip in the pool and DanD doesn’t like getting wet so it goes to say we were pretty hot.

All I can say is that we’re going to get worked on Sunday so I hope it’s not too hot otherwise it’s gonna be tough.

Read into that what ever you will TB :P

The truth of the matter is I don’t care much for swimming and it has got to be hot for me to get into the water.

Thanks for doing a report Kylie. I was full of good intention to do one

Still NO EXCUSE FOR DUMPING IN OUR BEAUTIFUL BUSHLAND

You are right in that regard Murph. The councils have made the illegal dumping worse by charging rediculous amounts to dump at the tip.

still no excuse for dumping in the bush.

Be careful what you wish for regarding the rain. You may get what we are getting and that will pretty well stuff riding for this weekend.

Stop it with your rain dancing wizardry Mick. We will have beautiful weather after the rain has moistened the ground for us ;)
