Just a few notes to accompany the photos.
A good day out, with 10 riders, 22 degrees and 0 rain.
Having marked the role and waited a while for TopDogDave we decided to head off. With a couple of the riders needing to be back at the cars by around one-ish, the pace was kept fairly brisk throughout the day, with rest stops kept a little shorter than normal.
The planned route was adhered to, with the exception of a little excursion along Koala Trail. Enjoying the run so much I missed the turn off and didn’t realise until 1km down the track. Sorry again guys, but gee I was enjoying that trail. :woohoo:
We did the Rolling Race again down Hayes Road, with XRTRAILHACK (Jason) taking out the honours. Well done Jason. Hope you like the snakes, and thanks for sharing them around. Keen not to go home empty handed Tim100 made sure he came last. Hope you like the fruit stick.
On the return leg Murph led a few of the riders down ‘The Hill That Beat Champo’ , while the others regrouped at the bottom at the creek. From there it was a dash over the whoops back to the cars.
Memorable moments:
1. Jason showing off his Rossi boots. Takes me back to mine, back in 1982!
2. Jason showing his foot injury – a stick penetrating his Rossi boots (no pic). Maybe they’re due for retirement.
3. After taking the group photo I warned the guys of the loose turn off ahead, calling it CR500 corner, only to be told we were already at CR500 corner :S
4. Me sliding into Mudrat at the top of Dakar Hill. Sorry about that, and thanks again for breaking my fall.
5. The group of rolling riders continuing on past me for another 300 m after I pulled up to video the winner. Well done guys. I’d say you pulled up where Ross finished the other day (just short of the left hand turn Ross).
6. Enjoying the whoops along Old Mill Road. :woohoo:
Thanks guys for the good day out, and thanks Mudrat for taking up the sweep duties.

Mate, if you changed your riding technique you’d have to change your user name as well.
Thanks for the comic relief throughout the day.
… yes, yes, coming dear …
November 13, 2009 at 9:43 am #160943TW ,really enjoyed the ride and also thanks to Mudrat for “sweeping” me along.
November 13, 2009 at 9:46 am #160944Yep a really top morning out. I haven’t ridden for a couple of months and have changed a few things around on the bike since then – tyres and steering damper especially – and it all seemed to work well.
Good to meet up with new blokes.

November 13, 2009 at 10:18 am #160945Nice work TW,
always good to to ride some new trails. Some of those single trails were sweet- quick paced with a surprise thrown in every now and then to keep up the challenge.
To those who attended, good to ride with you, not one complaint did I here.personal highlight- after a regather we all charged down the next section of singletrail- only to find XRTRAILHACK pulling his bike out from between the trees 30 secs later.this wasnt his only off path experience for the day, but was kinda funny after seeing he was alright.
I didnt see it but BIG HOL was still laughing about Sam filling in +1 climbing out of the creek when we got back to the cars.
November 13, 2009 at 5:30 pm #160960thanx for good day out TW, was good to catch up with old Friends and meet a few new ones.
Must say I was surprised at the amount off dust on some of the trails :S
Sorry for the Quick goodbye guys( a quick wave as I rode past the pines), but being low on fuel, I decide to keep moving. Managed to make it back to ChrisCross’s place with about 500 ml to spare and 120 on the speedo :laugh:November 15, 2009 at 12:32 am #160978Top ride TW and thanks to Mudrat for sweeping all day. It was a bit dusty on the open trails
Very professional like tour
Funny bloke that XRtrailhack, he seemed to be always going wide on the corners and ending up in the bush
Thanks again to everyone for making it an enjoyable day out
Cheers
MurphNovember 15, 2009 at 1:57 am #161088Hey murph I just need more practice and maybe a better tyre choice my rear is almost a slick thats why I can roll downhill further than you
November 15, 2009 at 7:18 am #160946Guys (and gals),
Here is some video of the start of the rolling race. Apols for the delay – rostered on this w/e.
No video of the end of the race.
I pulled up and got the camera out in readiness where the guys were SUPPOSED to have finished, only for them to keep on rolling. By the time I packed my kit and rode another 300 m further down it was as good as all over Red Rover. Congratulations again to XRtrailhack (Jason). Sorry Ross but it’s a new record I reckon.
Will start on the whoops video after dinner. Tim100, I can see why you’re keen to see it … nice little bunny-hop!
Watch this space ….
