What’s this stuff like for a 4 stroke?
I’ve heard people say it is good but is it?

I see it’s cheaper than the popular semi synthetics.

$43.62 for 10W-50, not sure if it’s mineral or semi synth.
    $68.85 for 15W-50 full synthetic.

    Both 4L containers.

There are cheaper 4L fully synth’s around. Motul 5100 being one of them. I get it at around $55 for 4L.

Are you just experimenting with oils Beemie or just keen to try the Yamalube?

I dunno, recently switched from Motul to Castrol and well no problems, just wondering if there’s a stand out oil thats the ducks guts or if I’m just paying too much for the same same thing?
Castrol starts off a lot cleaner looking, ends up the same colour though.

Isn’t the 5100 a semi synth Moto? I have been using it for 8 years or so and thought it was only a semi. It is a good oil but.

But none of that is answering your original question. Dan uses the Yamalube and does 1000km oil changes and doesnt have a drama

Yes Motul 5100 is semi synthetic.

The best oil I used in my bike is the Motorex stuff. It’s super expensive though at $110 for 4L! So I use Motul 5100 after trying a few brands. The 5100 seems pretty good although when it starts to wear I’ve noticed on the 450 that I get some clutch slip.

Ahhh…I stand corrected. I seriously have about 5 different oils in my garage now. I could have sworn it was fully synth too. My bad.

Well if it can keep Yamahas going it must be good, especially at those intervals.

1000km is the recommended oil drop period on the 450, the 250 is every 5000km per the book.
