December 8, 2009 at 9:11 pm #97696Asking for expressions of interest at this stage for some exploration around the SE end of the Watagans
Ride will be capped at 6 as the going could get a little tough :woohoo:
Meet at Dunks Lane ready to ride 6:30 Saturday 12-12-09 (Dozens Day)
Plan is to head up Watagan Forest Rd taking in some pretty gnarly singles, down Tunks and back up Hitchcocks :woohoo: Its a rough plan but a plan none the less :silly:
Saturday temp forecast is 25 degrees
Grade will be 5 at times I’m sure :woohoo:
 Cheers
MurphDecember 8, 2009 at 10:46 pm #164459If my mate backs out I’ll come for a torture session Murph. My bike deserves a bit of punishment before I get rid of it and I’ve been down hitchcocks a few times and thought “that’d be f!@#ed to go up so why not find out If benno is going to ride it’ll be my last ride with him before he moves to port douglas and I don’t think he’d be able to ride grade 5 without too much help slowing down the group. Is hitchcocks the only grade 5? If it is I might talk him into it because he’s a capable rider just might not have the conditioning since he’s ridden about 80kms in the last 6months! TBH I’m jittery about how I’ll handle it if it gets hot! December 8, 2009 at 11:29 pm #164468You think your jittery :S
I have nevr been up Hitchcocks either
Not sure about going down Tunks either, could be a bit tricky
If we find the singles I’m after, they could also be challenging but they couldn’t be as hard as last time we were up that way as it was pouring down :ohmy:Riders Diddel
 Austblue ?
 Smurph ?
MurphDecember 8, 2009 at 11:38 pm #164469Hitchcocks is a bastard to get up, good luck.
Tunks is easy to get down, tricky going up but not as bad as Hitches.
I haven’t been on either for 12 months or so, conditions are probably worse now.December 8, 2009 at 11:49 pm #164472Thanks for the heads up Wikdbeemer
Can’t say we weren’t warned now
 Cheers

AnonymousDepending on which bit of Tunks you go down it would be getting close to grade 6 in my opinion. The single trail off to the left after you leave Dunks is decent too. Grade 4 if ridden at speed as it has several log hops, prick hill and then a couple of rock hops if you keep going. I’d love to come, but can’t I’ll probably do a very similar ride to this around the 27th/28th December for anyone else that can’t make Murph’s ride.
