Due to a nasty rumor sneaking onto this forum (Rocket and Spike), I’ll clarify.
The apparently “jinxed” 300 has struck again.
3 weeks and 6 days ago whilst riding at Sunny Corner a combination of unforeseen circumstances has led to me landing on my shoulder, smashing my left collerbone to bits. Rode one handed back to the car, 3 hours of driving back to Dubbo, 6 hours sitting in further pain in Emergency and surgery the next morning. Plate, 7 screws and a cut any former two headed Tasmanian would be proud of.
So yes, I’m damaged goods. I haven’t been near the forum mainly because of the disappointment and dislike for dirt bikes at the moment.
I won’t be riding until probably Easter due to this and still another few weeks before I can work on the bike.
When I get over it all I’ll be back posting again, until then I’ll focus on resting and other things like eating ham.

Thats not good axel, but wont help being disappointed mate or having a dislike for dirt bikes also wont help as I gather you had the controls didnt you :laugh:, wasn’t a PDS moment was it :ohmy: . If you are going to participate in a dangerous sport shit will happen sorry but that’s the way I roll, again its no good. It could always be worse but

spose hams good axle don t think you will miss much riding round dubbo axle every one seems to be sooking it .sounds painfull not good that injury

broken axle dropped in yesterday and yes he is now the proud owner of a 4″ colarbone surgery scar. He returned my gps which he was using to not get lost at sunny corner on that fatefull day and as my gps is in a holster that you clip to the front of your camelback straps he now blames it for his injury. :ohmy:
where is that oh bugger emoticon
rest up axel and put 20kg on during your break so that you have a goal when you get back riding.
it was nice to finally meet kate axel and we both thought she was brilliant. too good for you Pal

G’day guys, thought I’d update as some are wondering where I’ve disappeared to and if I’m still alive.
Happy Easter to all.
The recovery is a tad slow. Easter was waaaaaaay optimistic. I can’t remove the plate till Aug/Sept and then have to wait 6 months after that until the screw holes weld up.
I’m pretty sure that the GPS I had on my Camelback strap was the cause of the break. It broke very near to the shoulder so a plate was the only option.
I’ve decided to sell the KTM300 begrudgingly but it shouldn’t sit there for more than a year… It’s all finally setup after spending lots of money and time on it so I’m plenty annoyed with the circumstances. If anyone is interested PM me. It will be on bikesales next week.
Been working on a project Nissan Patrol in the meantime which is nearing completion so will spend some more time online here soon enough.

Hey Axel, welcome back

Excuse my stupidity but why cant you ride with the plate in? I thought thats why guys had their breaks pinned?
By the way the cause of you break wasnt the GPS it was because your body hit the ground after you KTM projected you that way :laugh:

Cheers guys.
I’ve just been getting fatter and uglier without my riding fixes.
Problem with my effort is the GPS put pressure close to the shoulder end of the clavicle, the plate is therefore fairly high up. Dr has warned me that dropping on it again will obviously break the bone at the edge of the plate even further along. What they would have to do from there wouldn’t be pretty. Pin won’t work because of the existing plate weakened bone….can’t use a plate there because theres not much to screw to…
Best I stay away from temptation. Kato was going well thanks for asking TB. I hit the ground at 2km/h hopping a fallen tree. I don’t think “speed was a factor”, nor was it’s refined PDS suspension. I’d say fatigue, heat (was the hottest weekend of the year) and bad luck was THE factor.
I’ve been hanging for another ride that way Murf. Really did top my list for last year. I’ve got to build some fitness and strength up whilst I wait.
I have an old MQ Wagon SD33. Free of course. It’s run of the mill MQ really, sunrasias, lots of steel front and back to intimidate. Only has 470kk on it but it’s real value is it runs on free fuel now – that is: “carbon neutral”. Did a long run to Vic and back but didn’t have enough free fuel so had to cough up $50 for some diesel to get me home. Keeping an eye out for a GU TD4.2 wagon on the web to upgrade to in the next few months and will set her up the same.

i would not touch it ether axel pity about no riding axel .when you sell your bike don t tell the buyer what happened to the previuos owners its got one to go
