Need some advice….
I need to urgently purchase body armour and need help on what to buy. My preference is to buy something that is all in one rather than in bits.
I’m currently using my road jacket which has the shoulder, back & elbow pads but I cook in it when I head into the bush.
The men’s armour I find to be too big for a small frame like mine. The armour doesn’t seem to fit in the right spots. I’m even toying looking in the kids section but the quality looks flimsy.
So far I have found the alpinestar – Bionic Stella jacket for women but my luck there are no small sizes in Australia (only medium).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

January 19, 2010 at 2:55 am #168772Thanks so much TB.
Just got off the phone from Kate at 4BP Racing. Kate was so helpful and understood the challenges women go through in trying to find things such as body armour.
We were able to find the right option for me…. which happened to be junior armour…. and after waving the plastic card it will be here just in time for the weekend.
There isn’t anything stopping me now……… just skill.

AnonymousGood that you found something to fit – I am too stingy to get KD the ladies armour – she just have to put up with the same sort that I have only in a XXXS. Kylie seems to get away with it though, she has never once growled that it was uncomfortable. I cant remember what brand it is I just know it was $80

AnonymousHey Katrina, I’m glad you found something more suitable for you.
DanD is right. I had to put up with whatever he got but just a smaller size.
Until I started riding more I just used to ride in a road jacket. Like yours it had the armour in the back, shoulders, elbows etc and I thought it was fine. DanD went on a ride one day and early on into the ride he had a really nasty fall. He had to turn around and come home because he was so sore. He had his armour on and told me that if he hadn’t had it on then he probably would have broken bones.
The very next day we went out searching for armour for me. I couldn’t believe the difference that it made to my riding. I felt so much more protected that I found I had a lot more confidence.
I can’t wait for you to try yours out and see how you go with it.
As for DanD’s comment about what brand it is, I had to laugh at that because, typically, it is actually no-name brand
February 16, 2010 at 7:00 am #168855TB – Mick doesn’t tiptoe he goes head first.
i have womens body armour with the bumps in the front. (not filled in as i chose new bike not new boobs) I’m am by no means slightly build and the Alpinestar suits me just fine.
If its not too late… make sure you try it on in the store with a helmet on before you take it home. I tried 3 others first and all of them had issues turning my head with the bottom of the helmet hitting my shoulder pad. The Alpine doesn’t have that problem and the meshing makes it cool to ride with.
Good luck
Shell
