I’m a fairly hefty fella. I’m 198cm and weigh 130kgs (but dropping) when I sit on my pig she lowers a fair tad, probably need a new rear shock. Any ideas how to adjust my rear spring for my height and weight? Not talking rebound settings but actual spring settings. Can I screw the spring adjuster to make the actual spring height higher? Or do I just need a new bigger spring?
And to the front springs. My uncle had an 85/87 xr600 when I was a lad and he was asked if I had checked the pressure in my front forks. He said I only need to use a bicycle pump to adjust tme. However a cousing of mine, by marrage, is a mechanic and has been on bikes since a kid, said he has never heard of adding pressure, he said they are to release built up pressure.

Hey Syco, I’d be going more along the lines of a new spring in the rear, and probably new springs in the front too, when I was a young tacker I did the add a bit of air pressure to a set of yamaha forks…………..the term pogostick comes to mind, it took me three nano-seconds to realise I’d buggered up.

i cant remember it if was my old KDX200 or TT350, but one of them had valves on top of the forks and i remember reading in the manual to put something around 4-6psi in them, with a hand pump…

    Fair dinkum Guys

Mate click on the Teknik’s logo sliding across the page and contact Brad or Nick. Tell them you are an Old Bull and you need a new rear spring at the very least to make the bike sit right
