Hi all, over the next couple of days I will be doing some maintenance on the server that hosts the old bull website, primarily adding some filters and monitoring software to more carefully keep an eye on the bandwidth and increasing the performance of the site. As the traffic get’s heavier and more guests lurking I need have certain restrictions in place so it doesn’t blow our bandwidth costs out!! Hopefully you won’t even notice but if there is any dramas please email admin@obtrailriders.com.
Cheers

He has cleaned up and banned some suspicious IP address and will do another bulk lot as I understand it and tighten up some joining requirements. Yes thanks Chris he does a bang up job but sometimes I sit there and drink rum and watch for moral support

AnonymousThis is one of the reasons I closed my website-forum off and only members can view the boards that way it keeps the not so nice from hanging around, I had a problem with people stealing my photo’s and then using them on there forum’s claiming them to be there own,,,but I have put a stop to that now.
When I have band IP addresses that stops them getting into look but it does not stop them landing and it still shows up that they are a guest, so not sure if that affects your bandwidth still??
Cheers Mick.
February 22, 2010 at 8:43 am #171614Hey Mick, any browsing increases bandwidth, this month we have used over 48gb a big jump over the norm so I need to take control and put some restrictions in, we don’t want to have members only viewing hopefully it will not come to that.. What was the forum you had/have?
Cheers
Chris.February 22, 2010 at 8:45 am #171615Also with the images, usually I embed (C) obtrailriders in them, for the exact reason you said, members are always welcome to request the pics without this but it helps limit the leeching.

AnonymousMy website-forum is http://www.endurobiketalk.com I let all members have the hundreds of photo’s I have taken of them at events or ride day-weekends for free and for there personal collection,,,I might have to ask you some more about how to do that to photo’s as I am no wizz on the PC.
How full is your hard drive space on this forum,,,mine is going up and is at about 55% I might have to look at upping it soon but that means more dollars, which at the moment is totally out of my pocket only.
You have a great website here, I am not so big into that side ( to dumb to set up a good one ) I’m more just into the forum for all to chat about bike’s etc, etc.
Cheers Mick.

I think you do a good job TB, as do the Admins who I don’t really know.
Without you the site would fall to pieces or fall victim to the hacks and sharks. One constructive criticism I will offer (opinion?) is that missing posts are frustrating when you know it was posted and might conflict with someones attitude or opinion and the post just goes to hyperspace, never to be seen again.
It’s better if the Admin user intervenes publically or via PM.Well done so far guys, keep it going, maybe one day it will be like an Aussie ThumperTalk (with 2 stroke acceptance
).

February 23, 2010 at 12:46 am #171662Hey Chris (or anyone else savvy enough) any idea why OBT makes my laptops CPU go into Hyperdrive and overheat?
Actually being honest here, go to almost any other sites it’s fine, come here and within 5 minutes it’s slow as a wet week and needs switching down for ten, then I can be on it all day, but as soon as i go onto OBT same again…
wait on it’s a hint isn’t it… Mmmm
