Here is an example of what can happen , it is a bit gory so warning to those with a squeamish stomach!!!
Poor bloke copped what his mates called a SPLINTER thru his boot,,, He was wearing Oneals, not sure what model but they look a bit cheap like the old Answers I used to wear when I copped the ankle injury on the Hill End ride   :huh:Hope this bloke has a good recovery

February 27, 2010 at 5:29 am #172141still a good add for wearing safety gear as you never know whats gunna happen to us out there…
February 27, 2010 at 5:43 am #172135Yes, I know that would be a hsrd one to stop for any boot really
Still thought it was a good reminder to those that occasionally think they will be right without appropriate attire :unsure:I seem to remember a certain moderator from the North Coast that went for a quick blat on an XR, pulled a wheelie & the rest is history

I have seen on occasion, not with Old Bulls I might add,, but guys wearing steel cappers, sandshoes, sneakers & even volleys out in the bush!!! Would hate to think what a mess they could end up in,,,,,,,,,,
Things usually happen when you least expect it

I was wearing proper boots, when I came unstuck and still hurt my foot good enough to be in plaster for a month. Like Boony said nothing was gunna stop that “Splinter”. Those boots he was wearing are Oneal M10’s which I rate with wrapping your foot in glad wrap.
We saw some goomers riding at Swan’s Crossing yesterday in T shirts, shorts and joggers. One also happened to be on a KLX250 and the other on a DRZ400February 27, 2010 at 9:26 pm #172136:laugh: Thought I might get a bit of a bite there

As for the goomers you saw yesterday,,,, I have another word for them, but it will only get moderated so I can`t use it here  Starts with “F”
February 27, 2010 at 10:57 pm #172163From my experience my first ride with the training wheels gang I was wearing my old ROSSIS and a stick went through to my foot It got infected real bad and I had to have four days off work and two nurses come to my place everyday to give me antibiotic injections but going from that photo does the poor bloke still have his foot that is a massive branch compared to what I hit I did not even fall off the bike it just lifted my foot off the peg and it hurt a bit but the real pain was later once the infection started to spread and don’t use hydrogen peroxide on your wounds the nurses told me to use Betadine antiseptic liquid I hope he recovers from that wound but I think it will be a while before he can ride again
February 28, 2010 at 7:36 am #172137Yeah XR, Old mate kept his foot

But yes he will be off a bike for a long while I think
Looks as though his riding buddies did a great job of looking after him too, as you would hope if you are unfortunate enough to have such misfortune
Speedy Recovery mate

pic of fixed up foot, complete with drains etc
February 28, 2010 at 10:39 pm #172195Whats the drains for the pus removal
