yesterday Billt, Aido, Dave61 and my good self went up to kinglake for a squirt and a poke around.
i got to bills and watched a massive thunderstorm roll in while we loaded his stuff. it was pretty spooky.
we had a coffee in kinglake while we waited for the boys. i was fighting with half a dozen wasps who were all eyeing off my pie.  little shits!
kinglake is where the worst of the 2009 bushfires hit. the place is still devastated and sadly there are still families living in tents and caravans. my family used to go up there when i was young and the whole place looks different now. it will never be what it was.
anyway we kitted up and took off only to find most of the tracks shut still. we found some that werent
the dust was horrible, with white ashy powdery crap exploding in front of you when you were following. my chest was sore last night from breathing it in.
we hit a few wicked singles. on in particular was really overgrown and it was luck sometimes that kept me getting the odd glimpse of something to follow.
we all stopped for a rest and sat around on a conveniently placed log. there was thunder and lightning all around us. we were all praying for rain coz it was bloody muggy.we cruised some more and stopped at an old quarry for a smoke. i was dared to climb a nasty little hill and gave it a go…
throwing the kato away again..(its becoming a bit of a habit lately)
at least the kato made it up, i was left sliding down the face trying to dig in my fingers and toes for grip. :laugh:dave and bill at the quarry discussing the problems of the world…
the 3hungy…
we took off from there and hit a bit of marginal road and thats when it happened.
bill was casually cruising along when poof! a big puff of white smoke came out of his exhaust. i gassed it to catch him and as he accelerated it did it again. we stopped and bill turned off the berg.
it didnt want to play anymore and wouldnt start. it made lovely little smoke rings when he tried to start it. there was wet oil residue in the muffler too. not looking good. it was decided to go get the car and pick up bills sorry arse. :laugh:video if me chucking the kato and bills smoking berg.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbHJfG8bCSkit was 20-25kms of pristine gravel road back to the cars and i was having a ball drifting around every corner. i managed to squeeze 144 km/h out of the 300 before i ran out of road. man, was she revving :woohoo:
i loaded up my stuff and thrashed back up the road to retrieve bill. the prado was drifting some corners too, trailer and all.
i missed the track and went passed bill but soon worked it out and picked up the ride wrecker and his wounded woosaberg
we got back out of the forest and met the boys and went to the flowerdale pub for lunch
their beer is really good and they do a mean bangers and mash too. it had rained at the pub before we got there. we seemed to be dodging it somehow.
heading home it finally rained…a bit too late
i spoke to bill this morning and he said the berg will start now but its smokey. its off to the shop on monday.
thanks to dave and aido for their usual lack of organisation
and to bill for wrecking a good ride

February 28, 2010 at 6:37 am #172189When a fourbanger blows smoke it is either the seals on the valve stems or the rings I guess

The bike is running but still blowing white smoke, not as bad as the original big blast when I hit the NOS switch….LOL
I am talking to a couple of mechanics at the moment still not sure who to take it to, either Valley Force or Sharptune at this stage. Will update you all with the outcome.
