I jumped onto http://maa.nsw.gov.au/ to do a green slip comparison and their prices were consistently about $80 lower than the applicable company’s quotes – Does anyone else find this? I’ve been quoted as low as $430 for the ute but the MAA site gives me $370p.a
The site says that the prices require confirmation which is fair enough but if they’re out by 15% what’s the use of this service?

March 8, 2010 at 9:22 am #172838Hey Austblue
I checked the RTA site last night & the price I got from the insurance company was about $40 cheaper than there estimate.March 8, 2010 at 9:24 am #172840Puddles wrote:

March 8, 2010 at 10:09 pm #172843Strange hey. I guess ultimately it will come down to what the insurer quotes me so there’s no use carrying on – I’ll just get a quote manually from each of the main players and go with the cheapest.
thanks anyway guys.
March 8, 2010 at 10:28 pm #172860AB They’re bound by it, unless there is some onfo you didn’t put in…… like oh say being booked for speeding 16 months ago or something like that…
I used it so did a good mate and both found it spot on, but could depend on the person behind the counter.

March 8, 2010 at 11:39 pm #172865They’re bound by their own online quotes but not by the MAA estimate I believe.

The bold amount is what I was quoted online and the other is from the MAA estimate.
AAMI $373.46 $422.02
Allianz $451.00
CIC-Allianz $517.00
GIO $384.22 $434.18 online
NRMA $395.37 on renewal form $476.55 or $446.77 online
QBE $491.00 $555 online
Zurich $520.00I hate AAMI but for CTP I think they’ll do.

AnonymousIf you don’t like AAME why don’t you $11 more and go with GIO? For a man of your means you’d probably only have to work 10 minutes to pay that off

Yeah but I’d rather sit on here and talk shit for 10 minutes

As far as I’m aware CTP is standardised coverage and correct me if I’m wrong but doesn’t it cover 3rd parties rather than myself therefore not my concern? I suppose if I was sued by someone I hit though……
For my comprehensive there’d be no hesitation in paying the extra and really my gripe with AAMI is their dodgy repair policies so that wouldn’t really apply to 3rd party personal injury insurance though out of principle I did consider charging you an extra $11 to get your pipe repaired to cover the extra

AnonymousI’d pay $11 just to spite the company I didn’t like….but I’m nasty, bitter and twisted

March 9, 2010 at 1:34 pm #172834When it comes to insurance all of them suck! They take turns at being the cheapest with the greenslip I have made a claim with AAMI they suck bigtime NRMA were ok when it came time to claim these were claims for comprehensive car insurance as for greenslip claims I never have had one but with my bike QBE were the cheapest
