The moment you have all been waiting for :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Thursday lunch time House, me and Dig finally got our stuff together and made our way on our most excellent epic trip down south to Batemans Bay. We pulled into Scone as we forgot to bring an esky with us, House went into the petrol station and purchased a foam esky for $26…it had been sitting there since 1978 and it was the topic of humor for the next few hours
Arrived in Singleton and pulled into the bottleo to get a few coldies, only to find we had gone in the wrong way and we were facing off to about 4 angry Coal miners in their utes who were busting for a beer after a hard day down in the pits…off to a good start :P .House chose to drive the whole way which was awesome of the big fella. Dig and i finished off a carton and ripped into the Bundy as we eventually made our way down the range towards Batemans Bay. Pulled up at the Reef Motel with the wobbles :S and met the rest of the lads.
Next morning up bright and early ,gear check and mount up :cheer: .The was 15 riders, lead rider Marty, sweep Lyndon Heffernan and good old Les in the support vehicle, all champion blokes B)
First section of the ride involved a few singles and fire trails, one of the boys had an over the handle bar experience but was ok,we could see the dust was going to be a bit of an issue of the next few days, but hey…u get that. ;) .The pace was pretty good when my whole world nearly came crashing down around me  .Hit a dead tree over hanging the side of the track in 4th gear with no skid marks before it. I will go into it in more detail over the next few posts as i could almost start a whole new thread on the whole crash.Got photos and vids..it will be a best seller :woohoo: .In a world of hurt we eventually pulled up for lunch, had a panadol sandwich or two ,a few bandages, iced the shoulder and thought to myself..” my God,i still have to ride for another 2 days” ..Had a tea spoon of cement powder and we were under way again :cheer:
Everyone was having a ball and the riding was challenging with just about all types of riding experienced. Pulled up in Narooma and checked the place out, great little town..rool purdy..Booked into the pub and threw our shorts and tongs on and headed down to the beach for a swim and a few beers .Crikey it was refreshing, a nice brown dirt slick headed out to sea and killed a few penguins and seals but we felt like we were on top of the world. Some didn’t have swimmers so they just wore their dirty undies that they had been riding in..Raised a few eyebrows with the locals…where were you Tony???? Had a great feed at the pub and hit the fart sack pretty early as I was in a fair bit of hurt.
Next day’s riding was towards a little old gold mining town called Araleuwen. We rode through some of the most amazing mountains I have ever seen. Our ears actually popped a few times throughout the day with all the altitude changes of ups and downs. Some great creek and river crossings and heaps of down logs as a mini cyclone went through the area in February, which I don’t mind as it gets funny and gives you a chance to have a breather and a laugh at everyone else going arse up over these huge logs.
Pulled up at the little Gold mine town whose name I couldn’t even pronounce during the night as we all got super pissed. :cheer:
Many sore heads the next day and we were heading back towards Batemans Bay…and PORK CHOP HILL. Some really nice riding before we got there and a few of the lads had a helmet spews which is always of great value. :cheer:
Pork Chop hill truly is a site to behold. You come over a rise and boom…there it is…off in the distance sticking out of the greenness in all its rock spitting evilness. IT…IS…BIG…AND…SCAREY. My sphincter muscle gave a little squeak and we head of towards it under the power line that you can see in some of the previous photos. We got to the base and we all went a bit quite, this is some scary shit. Marty and Heffo zoomed straight up as the rest of us watched in awe. Then we started to have a crack. Carnage was common place and a few made it up about half way. Plenty of hilarious dismounts with bikes flipping over and screams of anguish echoing down the valley. I felt like a Jap Zero pilot about to go on a Kamikaze run as I lined the sucker up. Off I went to the cheers of the lads as they knew I was gunna come undone. I made it up about a quarter of the way before I chewed rock sandwich. Who cares?..i took the bastard on and then crashed it on the way down…lucky I’m crash fit. Happy as a pig in shit. Out of 15 of us, only one made it and about 6 were too scared to even have a go (Pussycats).
Lunch then back to Batemans dived in the pool at the motel and jumped in the car and drove home. Home by about 12.30 pm then got up about 4 hrs later and went to work..spewin
Pics and vids to follow…great weekend away….10/10 :cheer: :cheer:

Like Boll said, a good time was had by all. I thought I had better fill in between a few of the lines Boll missed. Spoke to the boys on the way down. Singleton, just excited, Sydney, loud and excited, Braidwood, finding their own jokes extremely funny and excited, Batemans Bay, just finishing off the remains of a carton of beer and a carton of Bundy cans. I think Mal may of had two out of the lot, so Boll and Dig had had a fair session. I think the trip down took an extra 2 hours due to Boll having prostate issues.

Day one. Too much fire trail/dirt road for me but hey that’s just me. There was some good flowing single trail in the morning which was neat. I missed Boll’s incident as he was behind me at that stage. He’s a very lucky man. The stick totally destroyed his pants and hip pads but only grazed the skin. He was a sore man, not even severe peer pressure could get him on the piss that night.

Seemed to improve on day 2. Day 2 was some really great fire trail with a hill that went basically for 30km and then down the same height in 10. If some of those contour banks were around Narrabri they would have their own names like MT Boll. Not quite so much fun when you launch off one only to be faced with large jagged exposed rock in the landing area but no offs so all good.

I was first to go off after the lead on the final stage to the deep river crossing (not the shallow one above). Anyway after a bit Marty the lead took off and left me for dead which I thought was a bit odd. Wasn’t going to go any faster though as it was a bit steep and loose. Anyway I finally got to the river and it all became clear. Hears Marty perched up on the far side with camera in hand. I stopped and waited for the signal from him on which way to go. Nothing forthcoming, so had a quick scan. Crystal clear, no boulders, didn’t look too deep so straight in whilst only one spectator. Went about two metres and holly crap, thought it was going to come over the seat. Bike started to bog down so on with the power. No place to stop when the water is more than air box high. Got to the other side, amen. Told Marty I guessed that wasn’t the ideal run and he said if I had gone downstream a couple of metres, then footpeg deep, but don’t tell anyone. Secrets safe with me. Needless to say all parties followed in my footsteps except for Boll (felt sorry for the injured) and a couple of others who had experienced earlier misfortune. I tell you what, a drz 400 can push a bigger bow wave than the titanic.

I knew Boll had a big night when I heard him ask Marty the next morning “where do you put the oil in this thing” whilst pointing to his bike. Well the jury is still out but I’m hoping it just because of a thumping headache and not the fact that he had never done it before. I must admit though when we washed his air filter on day two I could swear there was mould growing on the second layer of dust and some dinosaur footprints in the first layer.

Day 3. Had some better tight single trail. Just before we landed at Pork Chop Heffo gave us the choice. Take the road to the Chop, or go with him and some of his local mates who had joined us for day 3 to some of his hidden single trail. Anyway, was surprised to see that after the main party had departed on the road there was only me, Blue and Smithy left from the group. Suddenly became a bit nervous as I figured from looking at heffo and his mates that the pace was about to pick up. Anyway off I went determined to give it a crack and not hold anyone up too much if possible. It was the best single track of the weekend. Tight, in and out of creeks, logs, ruts, hills, it had the lot. Pity it was only 20 minutes long. Even passed a couple of blokes so felt a bit better coming into the Chop.

Came over the ridge to see Pork Chop for the first time and near shit my pants. It was one of the few locations where you can actually see the whole thing. It is big and impressive from a distance. Had a bit of trouble with some of the off cambers just getting to the base so was fairly apprehensive by this stage.

Watched a couple of the boys have a go and the guides make it look easy so it was time for my turn. Not as steep up close as I had imagined and also looked a bit grippier than I expected so I was hoping I was in with a chance. Not to be. Had four goes and only got to the top of the bottom section, maybe a 1/4 of the way up. Boll had the best dismount of the day. Going up was fine, just got as far as he could and stopped no issues. Then the ride down started. Not really sure what happened but I looked up and here was Bolls WR doing a little cartwheel down the hill quickly followed by Boll doing one of those runs where the legs are going flat out to try and catch up with the descending upper body. Unfortunately this is a little hard to control when running down a cliff so like so many others it ended with the ungraceful face plant into loose shale at the end. It was bad enough that I didn’t laugh until after he got up.

There will be more, but that’s all I got for now and sorry no photos from me.

    Hi Bollocks,

Enjoyed your report and I’m dribbling after seeing the photo’s. :silly: Don’t get excited as it’s due to the red wine I’m guzzling after shitty day at work. :S

So the report is now responsible for adding to my bucket list an attempt on Pork Chop hill but I suspect that may be sometime off. Need tad more experience before tackling that one.

Well done… and continue living your dreams..

    Katgirl.

    Nice work Bol.

If this weeks OBT was a magazine your report is the cover story. Great read and photos and I can’t wait to see some footage. You don’t have to post footage of you crashing though as I have seen it in the flesh in Wauchope

Marty’s not bad on the up hills either, or the flat for that matter. Pulled up outside Dave’s gate. Dave goes well too. Was a bit slow on Day 3 for some reason. I think he was getting pins and needles in his hands.
