Ok I am about to put new tyres on my Berg FE550E for the winter.

What do you guys reckon are the best for the wet riding months?

I have used Bridgesstone, Mitchelin & V Rubber in the past.

I used the V Rubber on my TT600 & XT600 and they were excellent I could climb anything. I just don’t know how it would go on the Berg with the extra power.

I have a Mitchelin on the Berg at the moment and I think they are just a tyre nothing special.

    Bill.

    Hey BillT

Up my way winter is the dry season but in the summer mud I have been very happy with The Michelin S12. The knobs will jump right off at the first sign of bitumen but if it is soft they are the business.

If you buy Pirelli Scorpion’s from Mal at Sutto’s I will bring them down and fit them before the Kenda for you yes.

Check the link, they go good and wear very well. KTM race team use them now I see at the 4 day and they live on my 650 well so your little Berg wont trouble them  Mal, Rocket, Crash Micknmeld all use them and are heppy with them

I’m a massive rap for the Dunny 952(rear).
I fitted one on my KX May 1st last year and its still on there, 1700k’s later.
Raced on it twice last year, one of them was the mudiest race/ride i’ve ever done(Monza, Ballarat, avatar photo), and it perfomed excellently for an intermediate.
Although its showing its age now, it still amazes me how well it performs for a tyre 12 months old with that many k’s.
for example, rode Elaine here in Vic on the weekend and was very wet, and it still climbs with ample grip.
I have a new set of 756’s in the shed ready to go on, but i think i’ll swap the rear for a 952.
S12 on the front has done well, but i’ll give the 756 a go this time.

Having tried about 8 different rear tyres in the last year or so, Thumbs up for the Pirelli Scorpion or like STM said the S12’s are the tyres for mud.

I need a new front tyre. What do people think of the Pirelli Scorpion fronts. I had one on the rear and liked it.

Yeah like Mick said S12’s for mud and loam I love them, awesome grip but dont last for long. Having said that I saw Moto get a massive run out of an S12 rear in the rock and hard pack conditions on our Orange ride a while back that said he does ride like a homo

If you dont like or cant fit tyres a lot I wouldnt use an S12 on a big bike like the Berg IMO

I’ve got one on the moment, about 1100ks and still good, Ive just ordered mx51 from mal because i am going away on a 3 dayer and always put new rubber on, but the pirelli will go back on at some stage, plenty of life in her yet.
