Chain gang are back in production after not being able to source the high grade steel they use because of the GFC. They are currantly moving to new facilities but said they would get my sprocket out to me in two days time. Great news for all bike users chasing a good quality Australian made product.
April 21, 2010 at 8:59 am #176662Good news Chicken, they are without doubt the best sprockets around

April 21, 2010 at 10:23 am #176663I jumped on their website on monday and sent them a request via their link thing but as yet have not had a reply, so I straightened out the old sprocket ready for this weekends three dayer, but will look them up again on my return. Got one of those steel ally composite ones on and it was the aluminium bit that bent.
HattoApril 21, 2010 at 10:34 am #176664Thats great news, They are a top product made in Australia and out last any sprocket I have ever bought.

AnonymousThey are great sprockets, the WR had one fitted when I bought it. I have put over 4,000km on the bike so far and the sprocket is still OK.
I am changing my chain and sprockets next week, but the budget wont stretch far enough for a chain gang sprocket this time around
(I know false economy and all)
April 21, 2010 at 11:02 am #176705Just a thought Dan, I know you will normally get two chains to a rear chain gang sprocket and about 5 fronts  if you change it before the back chain gets past that point and starts hooking the back sprocket

I know this is something that I should know, but how do I tell if the rear sprocket is past usable?
April 21, 2010 at 11:11 am #176706First of all Dan, where were ya last sunday???
Waited for a tadd longer than usual, (not that the boys were that keen to get straight back into it) Hope everything was OK???Back on topic
If ya’r up for new sprockets please change the chain as well:silly:
I still hear of fella’s changing sprockets and not chains………..
Usually the cause of the sprockets wearing is because the chain has strethched
I know this sounds like $$$$$$ but in the end it is worthwhile :side: As nobody wants to be caught out with either f@rked up   :laugh:So long away
P’S” any of you local Dudes should sign up for Morgo’s bash. He has some great tracks, and if you so desire more punishment I’m sure it can be derranged, Oh I mean arranged
Cheers

AnonymousLast Sunday was a bit of an abortion Murph, too many Chiefs it turned out
Was always going to change the chain, its the part of the equation that is stuffed. But if I can use my rear sprocket still that is great, I have replaced the front sprocket probably around 2000km ago due to bending teeth.
Whats the general rule of thumb with telling if your sprockets need replacing though
April 21, 2010 at 11:27 am #176665I`m with you murph,
I change both sprockets and chain as a set. may be a bit dearer but in the long run gives peace of mind and you know everythings age/mileage ( in a metric world shouldnt it be kilometerage )
only exception to this is if something was damaged with not much age on it.morgo
April 21, 2010 at 11:32 am #176712Ha, good question Dan?????
I’m sure everyone has differing answers on that but to cathch either sprocky before they brake teeth is always a good guide. On saying that I usually wait till a tooth goes missing  Then get onto it $$$$$ Ouch :silly:
Cheers
MurphApril 21, 2010 at 11:45 am #176717Good to hear from ya Morgo, by the way, Huskybloke + 1 and Coastalcut have signed up for ya ride. Smurph and I will be there witch ya’s. MurphApril 21, 2010 at 11:54 am #176721Isn’t it the case that if you cahnge your chain regulary enough you should not have to change your sprockets?
