I have had a lot of sports bikes over the last 20 years and even rode around Europe on an 87 vfr750. But 3 years ago I bought a farm just inland from yamba Nsw and got a Honda xl250 s. I started on the dirt around the farm and was hooked. The 1978 Honda is indistructable and was a few mad frenchmens bike of choice in the Dakar that year. I soon realized I would need modern technology to tackle the Aussie bush on my own and make it home, being new to dirt bikes I went for reliabilty and sensability in a Suzuki Drz 400 e. In the 10 months I have owned the dr I have clocked up 3000+ km ,1 broken foot and 1 broken finger. Not bad for a novice I thought!
I will keep the Dr as I have the xl but I now have my eye on the Husaberg fe390, i’m not sure this bike will help me keep up with the faster guys I ride with but they do look bloody nice!May 6, 2010 at 8:37 pm #178163excellent choice of bike the DRZ, and you live in a sweet place of this planet, I holiday in Iluka neally every year

May 6, 2010 at 9:08 pm #178178I got to admit I have a soft spot for that Berg 390 as well. I think you should get one ASAP and bring it down to Coffs just to make sure it is ok in the tight stuff

May 6, 2010 at 9:11 pm #178180We might get a good deal on 2 ! I really need to either ride one or know someone with one before I can commit ! After all they are one of the most expensive rides in their class.
May 6, 2010 at 9:22 pm #178181There area few Berg owners on OBT who might be able to give you some feeback.
Anyone?STM
May 6, 2010 at 9:39 pm #178182A lot of the guys rode the Berg 390 at Louee las tyear on the Sutto`s Test Ride Day!!!
Everyone seemed fairly impressed I think. It did have a Rekluse Clutch fitted too.
May 6, 2010 at 9:55 pm #178172Boony you really think the wife would let you take the yellow Banana over on holidays for you to go riding  Those tablets you are taking are 1 every 24hrs not 24 every hour mate :laugh
 :May 6, 2010 at 10:44 pm #178183Hey Nick, welcome, I’m with Mick your shout for the nuts when we hook up for a ride. Personally I rode both the berg and the kato400, I did like the berg but I bought the Kato, it just fit me better and in my opinion had a better feel and made better bottom end power. It all comes down to personal taste I have a mate with the 390 and he swears by it, I do think he was having second thoughts after riding the Kato. Try and get a test ride on Both if you can.
Cheers
Chris.May 6, 2010 at 10:54 pm #178186Chris, that Kato 400 of yours has certainly made a huge difference to your riding. You were fair peddaling it on the weekend.Except when you threw it in the puddle.
