    Well my trusty 661 boots finally shit themselves at Coffs last week so now I need to get some new boots. I’d consider getting the 661 flight’s again but everybody seems to point me towards the Gaerne boots.

    The ‘Fatsbacks’ have just been replaced with the ‘G React’ which for the price I would buy if it were not for the moulded sole they have, I much prefer the stitched type.

    My Gaerne trials boots were great and am keen on the brand, anyone have anything bad to say about the SG10’s other than the price as I can see is good, surely they aren’t that good?

    Decent boots are expensive, but next to my helmet are the most important bit of protection/riding gear I own and therefore I want decent quality gear.

    OK there aren’t good then is that what you want to hear?

    I think they are better the my TCX pros which cost more and had an inner booty. I have had alpinestars and tech 8’s through the years as well. Mal5.1 and I bought ours at the same time and got a bargain they were very well priced bloody cheap really.

    I just wanted to know if there were any issues, surely they can’t be perfect, maybe someone here runs them and had issues with durability.

    I want a boot with no inner bootie which rules out the TCX’s. Also, they look like they have a big toe area. Small points but you have to make a decision somehow :)

    I have been using SG10 s for a while and they were great from day one.
    No real break in time and good to wear all day .

    He wants the glass half empty not half full :laugh: :P I think Mick has a set as well come to think of it :)
    I think they are a good thing Moto just buy a set ;) when you see a guy that owns a major bike shop wearing a pair and he could wear anything I guess, they be be ok after all :huh:

    I owned a pair for years
    Did 11000kms on my first 525 and probably more than half the kms I’ve put on this 525.
    So I got about 17000kms out them :woohoo:
    Can’t complain about that
    Should of bought them again as my new cheaper boots are already coming apart at the stitches

    I too am very interested in what anyone has to say about them for the price they seem to good to believe, they even pivot like the Sidi’s.

    I am wearing a pair of Sidi Crossfire Boots at the moment and they are coming near end of life after 3 years of wear, cost me around $600 on special when I purchased them. The only thing I hate about them is the inner booty; they are a pain to put on otherwise a fantastic boot.

    Yeah I have a set of Fastbacks and am very happy with them. Tripper has a set too.Kram as well.
    I particularly like the buckle system as they are easy to do up and never come undone. I have done about 4000km since I got them in September and last night I checked the soles and there is hardly a mark on them (maybe the pivotpegz have contributed to that though)

    The only down side I have seen is that the little screws that hold the clips to the boots need to be tightened when new, as I lost two in the first week or so. Since I tightened them all ,there has been no problem. They squeeked a bit when new too but that seems to be not so obvious now the boots worn in.

    Best pair of boots I have owned by far, also the most expensive too but you get what you pay for.

    One other problem I have with them is that I dont know how to pronounce Gaerne :laugh:

    Guy earn phonetically speaking of course :P At least that’s how all the poms pronounced the name.

    Cheers for all the replies people. I was dead set and have now found a set of 661’s for less than half the price of the SG10’s, it’s thrown me a bit, only issue is they are WHITE. I’ve got 10,000Km’s outta the 661’s so that’s not bad.

    i have had set for a few years have worn out one set of soles and half warn out a seckond set very comfertable boots easy to put on suprising how long your feet stay dry on wet days to .have crash tested them many times with no ingerys hit trees logs stumps endos etc but i think my new fox formas have more ankle support but not as comfy.shop around on the internet for them don t pay full retail 700 or 800 i think they want(got mine for 300)

    Just an update on the Gaerne boots, I gave mine a wash the other day and I noticed that the counter sunk screws that hold the buckles on, had come loose again, all bar one needed nipping up again. If you have a pair it would probably pay to check them from time to time.

    Also the hinge on the boot is actually wearing into a section of my clutch housing as well,it suprised me actually how much it has worn into the metal.
