Anyone dun any testing on air filter oils and if so what would you recommend?

Yep i recommend using both together as a start, then from there on in it is personal preference.

My I like Genuine or K&N or Twin air, and I prefer 2T oil squeezed evenly throughout the filter, and a little grease on the lips.

but that’s just me, and I’ve never ever dusted a bike

I have over the years of trying different ones and settled on Motul

It is very tacky, even when you pull the side plate of after an extended period it still stretches out spider web style. Its well priced (at Sutto’s anyway) and you dont have to use bugger all

    IMO

TB I’ve got a bit of that left in a bottle, and you’re right it’s as tacky as high heels & lipstick on Hulk Hogan, but it sure is a bugger to use and clean.

I am trying this under recommendation by Mal at Sutto’s for filter cleaning so I will post it up later, just a thought along the filter lines

Funny you mention that we did four pieces of foam with four different filter oils a couple of years ago and after 3 weeks the only one not sitting in its own puddle of oil was the Motul one

    Hey mr blue

I use the motul – wash in kero, spin clean, wash in hot soapy water, spin clean, wash in clean water, spin clean let dry and re-oil. Use dishwashing gloves, wash in kero at end all good for next time

    Thought someone might ask

Go down to bargain shop and get a lettuce washer/spinner thingy for $5.00, filter fits perfect inside, put lid on and spin handle, Plastic basket goes a bit warped after about 30-40 washes, just go and buy a new one.
    Works a treat

Motul is waaay too hard to clean. It’s probably brilliant but I’d rather clean the Silkolene (from sca) coated filters twice as often than deal with that blue stuff. You have to wonder if the amount of chemicals and manhandling of a Motul coated filter, does to the filter foam itself??

Have done for two years with two Unifilters (rotating filters at each change) washing with the Kero & soapy water trick, and no sign of damage to the filter foam as yet ;)

I am surprised by the comments about the cleaning I haven’t noticed that its any harder really to clean and I really like the fact its super tacky. Bottom line whats an extra minute shed time. Its just my opinion.
I have 3 filters and two of those would be over 4 years old Axel and I ride a lot and haven’t had one fall apart etc
    Each to his own :)
