So what to do on a public holiday when you haven’t ridden for a day. So Lochie and I geared up this morning and rode out through Springwood, Winmalee down the pass and through to Richmond for breakfast at a fantastic bakery
From there we headed the Bell rd and across to the putty rd and out the Colo Heights, from there we took the route used on the Old Bulls biggest weekend and wound our way down to cross the Colo River for the 2nd time
From there we worked out way up over Mt Lagoon once it eased a little we stopped for a break
The track got rougher in sections (not single trail rocket I know but at least I am out riding)
From there we eventually came out at Bilpin and went back into the bush and wound our way down the valley floor. It’s a pretty rough route two up, Mal5.1 and I have doubled through there before and we used it on the OBT’s biggest weekend. Some picture of that section are here I didn’t stop to take any pictures as we would have been late for lunch
From there we did about 4klms of the Bells line rd and I found a new track
Singles for you Rocket
That took us from Bell to the old abandon airstrip on the top of the ridge looking over Lithgow with no bitumen
Turns out we were running late so we bolted into Lithgow, fuelled at rode out around the back of Lake Lyle
The dam is very low,
It’s not even up to the back wall
From there we hightailed it big time to the little wind farm at Hampton
We meet Mal (from Sutto’s) and some of his mates for lunch they were riding the pine forests out there. From there we rode out through the dirt over Cox’s river and up to Hartley. From there through little Hartley Valley, found track that I will explore with Mal5.1 at a later date. From there we crossed the Darlington Causeway rd and ran the railway line to Mt Vic form there home. 310kms and a great father son day.

June 14, 2010 at 8:12 am #181739Sounds like a good day to me. Had a day out with my young fella too, doing a similar thing. Great weekend for a bit of biking. Will post a story later.
June 14, 2010 at 8:37 am #181740Another father and son effort on the same day.
Faced with the same dilemma as TB, I to decided to take Connor on a father and son adventure ride.
We dragged the NX out of the shed and piled aboard.
WE headed out Bago road a bit and turned off into the forest via small rocky creek.
And a few rocky firetrails, with very slippery red clay.
And a mudhole or two
Much to Connor’s dismay I turned the NX into some single trail with bushes still wet with overnight rain and his knees got sopping wet.
He wanted to get off and walk by this stage.
WE finally got to or destination.. The NSW MX Championships at the HVMCC raceway.
At the races I met up with Moose , KTMBULL ,Puddles and Jono., Apparently the coffee was not much good.
Then Moose and I went down and manned a marshall box on the 2nd corner. Man those buggers can ride!!
Quite a good day out actually. The NX didn’t miss a beat and purred away all day.

The water hasn’t even got close to that dam wall since it was built a few years ago.
Which track at Hartley? There isn’t many of them there.

I dont know if I can answer you here Mal as Mick its seems is now too tight to start his own thread   Man thats tight to a new level
Mal you know when you run towards the darlington causeway and it changes to bitumen to run up the hill there is a track of to the left and it winds up between the valley on the left. We followed it for a while

June 14, 2010 at 8:59 am #181758Sorry for the hijack. It just fitted the heading of the thread, so I thought I would add to it.
June 14, 2010 at 9:03 am #181762Funny how the kids burr up when you go through the bog holes, very nearly bogged the Tenere today
 but got it through.
Lochie kept saying how much more comfortable the Tenere is over the NX which is good considering we did 300 odd kays he will sleep tonight

Yeah I know the track. Not sure where it goes now. Last time I went up there it was a dead end. It an old mine track. I’ll check it out next time I’m out that way.
