Well I have been at it again, picked up a new “adventure bike” today from Better Bikes in Sydney. I can’t believe it is 5 years old (2005 model Suzuki Veestrom DL650), 27,000km on it and barely a mark to show for it, it has road tyres on it at the moment but I will have to change them soon enough to get some off road time on it. Still not sure which one I will take to CC though, the DRZ would be more fun but this would be more comfortable.
July 31, 2010 at 7:36 am #185044Kept an eye out for you today Jeffro knowing that you were going down there congrats mate.
As it was I stopped at the pie in the sky on the way home this arvo and bumped into Katgirl on her BMW650. We chatted and we were heading the same way I said I would follow her she goes I dont speed I got no points   I know why she has no points   god I would hate to keep up with her when she has points

July 31, 2010 at 7:55 am #185046Go the vstoms they are a good bike, the one thing to watch when riding off road is the wires going to sidestand it wont allow you to start with stand down.they stick out and are quite easy to damage from rocks n shit,if damaged the bike stops dead, and they ars a heavy bugger to push home

July 31, 2010 at 8:56 am #185058Nice bike Jeffro. Looks like it has all the gear ready for the Corner run mate.
July 31, 2010 at 9:33 am #185047Wow Jeffro, nice bike…. are you having a mid-life crisis???
Can’t wait to see that out on the trails.
Enjoy the bike.
Kat..
PS.. Enjoyed the fast run down F3 with TB this afternoon. Wish I could ride that fast on the trails.
July 31, 2010 at 1:20 pm #185063Jeffro,
bike looks great with bling on it already. GREAT
Bring on the Corner ride – doesn’t matter really what bike you take, some more fun?? some more comfort??
Hard decision :S
The dilemma of having bikes to choose from
Probably any bike will do the job – take a postie  :laugh:Mick
July 31, 2010 at 11:05 pm #185043Hello Jeffro,
What can I say… I think you made an excellent decision, the wee strom is meant to be better than the big 1000cc, so how good is that?? They got mobs of power, and are smooth yet somehow V twin’ish. It looks like it has nice adv accessories, and I know will give you years of fun.
We should organise a ride soon heh??
If it has the standard footpegs I can recommend the pivots of course, but there is a budget alternative for $21 delivered[email me if you want details], the other ‘money well spent’ accessory is a fork brace[if it doesnt have one], little money and lots of benefit. [Richland Ricks from the USA].
Congratulations
Scott
August 1, 2010 at 1:52 am #185048:woohoo: nice score there mate!!!
Is the shopping spree complete now ????
Just need to decide now on what to ride to the corner hey? Choices ChoicesCheers
August 1, 2010 at 2:57 am #185107Yeh Eag’s I think that’s about it for bikes for a while now but you never know
.
Scotty it does have the standard pegs, no fork brace and as I said before, only has road tyre at the moment. I am not going to rush into throwing some off road tyres on it yet but once I do I will be keen for a ride.
Mid life crisis??????? That’s how I got back into bikes about 5 years ago I think, I just happen to have had some spare cash lately which is not a common thing with me.
We actually called into Pie in the Sky ourselves on the way home yesterday, it’s the first time I had been there that I can remember, we were there around 12.00-12.30 I think.
Went for a bit of a run on it this morning and the screen is a good thing, especially in todays wind, nice and smooth power delivery, comfy seat. Need some bar risers for standing, maybe some grip heaters, also need to work out how to mount the GPS. It already has 2 of the 12 V outlets, one in the front and one under the seat which will be good for keeping the phone charged.
Happy daysAugust 1, 2010 at 4:55 am #185110Nice Jeffro, I accually saw this advertised on bike sales. I have been looking at the Vstom myself as a stable mate for the DRZ, would be nice to take the misses out on some country rides. Unfortunitaly all my spare cash is tied up in an oversee’s holiday next month so it will have to wait till next year. There seems to be heaps of nice looking low kms Vstoms out there for very reasonable money.
Have a look at this site there is some good information on there. http://www.stromtrooper.com/ even an Australian/NZ forums. It amazes me some of the place people take the Vstrom’s off road. Enjoy and I hope I get to join the club soon.
