the standard timing chain tensioner is hydraulic or oil pressure fed to maintain tension on the timing chain i recommend removing this as it will fail with a $4000 bill for repairs if not more. replace this ktm crap tensioner with dirttricks.com tensioner which has spring/ratchet auto adjust+ oil pressure to maintain tension see you tube for video evidence.(ktm timing chain rattle) just rebuilt SXF motor as standard tensioner failed which let the cam chain jump teeth on cams and valves hit piston complete blow up. installed dirt tricks tensioner on rebuild problem solved no rattles. KTM know of this problem what is their logic.

I’m thinking of doing the same with mine ray! It’s getting a tad noisy on cold start up  .

If KTM Know of this , will they replace the tensioner under warranty, as my bike is a 2010 model?

    Sorry Justio man
But this sort of problem is a major reason I didn’t buy one for the new breed Kato’s.
If I am going to purchase (get myself into more depbt) I want the bike to be tried and true.
On saying that I am up for a new stead as mine is getting close to 12000kms.
Has been the best bike I have owned though.
Me and my girl (don’t know if she/it would like to be called that) but I do love her like a (must word this right, mistress??)
Might wait untill they get there shit sorted before I buy a new one????
Almost tempted to go Husa but that technology is just too new age??
    Like I said
Any new starship needs mods
Hope ya get it sorted ;)
    Cheers

they prably would replace it but the same thing would happen again anyway.i put a cafe racer one in mine about 60 bucks delivered and an australian product .also made the bike roll start better and run better at low revs due to correct cam timing :)

Justo, Tryhard has got a Dirt Tricks cam chain adjuster and done lots of KMs with it.
