In the garage I have a new to us, 2007 CRF250R. I have acquired a new set of Force Radiator Guards. I have got the Left Radiator Guard on and connected to the frame with the brace section of the guard fitted. All went really well. Now to put the shroud on and connect the brace section of the radiator guard to the frame. Here is the problem, the brace does not line up with the hole in the frame? Frustration!!!!

If I force (jokes aside) the radiator back so that the brace section hole lines up with the hole in the frame then the bottom bolt for the shroud will not line up with the hole for the radiator connection point and visa versa.

I hate it when SH*T dont fit. But its worse when it fits but you’re just doing it wrong. Has anyone had this problem or can anyone suggest anything that I may be doing wrong.

Tried to ring Force earlier – but its Saturday. Thank God its raining – I have a kid giving me those anxious looks… when we riding..

    Any help would be appreciated.

Also – the radiators are perfect, not a bend or bow in them, only the natural Honda CRF slant forward of the outside edge; as one guard has the name on it I am using the correct guard on the correct side (otherwise the name would be upside down). And yes the guards are for the correct model per the packaging.

I would guess that the brace to the frame is 10-15mm short. Like the wrong brace section have been included in that pack.

Had the same problem recently where i did a few screws up and the last one was no-where near close.

Back all the screws right off and you should then be able to get all the screws started. Then do each one up a turn or two and keep going like this. Check the bracing part is on the right side.

    Hope this helps.

    PS it will fit

I agree with jak, Force guards are made very accurately and are the best I have seen ;) I just recently put a set on my Gasser, took a bit of Fiddling, but eventually went on. ( I only realised half way thru that my right radiator was a tad bent (thanx Bro  ) Like Jak said back em all off and try and get the threads started then work your way around.

    Good luck! B)

I went back to the garage and let off all the bolts, and got them all started and everything came together with a bit of pushing and squeezing as I tightened.

We are now ready to ride, very happy teenager!

What was really important was to let off the bolts attaching the brace section to the guards. At first I thought that they would need to be tight (with locktite) before the shroud went on, however the bolts attaching this section could be tightened after the shroud was in place, either around the shroud or through the hole in the shroud. This minor item made a big difference in my being able to get it all back together.

    Thanks.
