Decided to re-run the ride we did last week to Buladelah today, headed out around 8.30 and it was already bloddy hot.
headed out through Seaham same as last time but detoured just outside of Clarence Town into the bush along a orad that has heaps of erosion mounds and a nice creek crossing. From the out to Black Camp rd but detoured halfway along to a trail I had first seen 12 months ago but hadn’t gotten around to investigating. It was a nice flowing twin trail that doesn’t see much traffic by the looks of the leaf litter all over it, there were a couple of rocky sections but nothing to rough. The trail wound over the mountains and brought me out on the Booral/Washpool road where I turned right and after a few K’s turned around and headed in the right direction  which brought me into Stroud the back way (same way Eags and I went on the return leg last week).
I refueled as I hadn’t filled before leaving home and headed out of Stroud then jumped back onto my original track from last week which had me heading back towards Stroud again but I knew that was going to be the case and wanted to see if I had missed anything between there and TB’s route from the week before. From there I headed onto Black gate road which is the one that had us turning around last week. The bogholes were only marginally better but the rest was far less slippery.
Here is the boghole that we turned around at,,,,,
And the trail just after as well as another boghole a little further up
Turns out that this was the only road that would have given us any trouble with the exception of this.
With no way around (this was right on the edge of a creek crossing and it was too deep either side) and not wanting to turn around I set to with a combination of brute strength 😆 and my mighty bush saw,,,
😆 😆 😆
I ended up with this.
Still had to lay the bike over at about a 45° angle or more but better than just going home.
I got into Buladeleah just after 11 so being too early for lunch I turned around and headed back the way I came.
Explored a few different trail on the way back, a few of which had me turning around but I was in no hurry, even ended up on a few singles that would have been worthy of a Murphsberg ride
.
Gat back to stroud around 1 and stopped for lunch before heading for home the way I had come except for 1 more detour that cut out Clarence Town. All up about 230Km for the day in bloddy hot conditions, I even finished all 3 litre of water in my camelback as well as a couple of isotonic drinks along the way.
A few pics from the day.
A couple of bogholes on black gate road.
This one TB’s favourite
Lunch at Stroud
It’s very green out there at the moment

November 15, 2010 at 12:52 am #190731Nice day out there Jeffro
I concur it was bloody hot
We rode from Chain Valley Bay to Catho yesterday
Some nice singles on the way but the Catho side of the highway was pretty much the same as last time I rode out that way some 25 years ago. No pics so no report from me
Take it easy on those solo trips mate
Cheers
