The DR Recovery Ride was a top day out, leaving home at 4.45am and getting home at 9.00pm. Sore sides from laughing with Joe the whole day. Especially when he tried to start his bike back at home.
We met Wayne & the two Scotts at Singo and took off
All the fords were swollen but accessible and fun.
We were now looking forward to the creek crossings as the temperature was rising rapidly

Nearly 20 km in with the ride in as challenging as it gets trying to double over slippery gullies with streams, logs, bog holes and poofter hills.
The DR was found parked in the handicapped zone, and with a little bit of gentle persuasion started with DR gusto ready for action.
The track was heaps dryer than when Losta was there last and a gleam in his eye, Wayne hit the hill full noise and and and bloody hell… he just about made it to the top in one go. Wahooo.

Who’s Bob Carr????
Scott was glad he didn’t take the VStrom

Whats that?….. Lotsa Losta foot peg and we were lucky to find it in the mud
Did I mention the mud in places?
Camp Wayne Manor where you have to sleep in your BMW Sleeping bag (Bike Clothes)
It was as hot as fat lady’s armpit so we decided to cool off

Thanks Guys for the great ride it was a blast. Especially on the way back when we all were riding. Dan & Kerry from the farm were most welcoming and made up a grouse plate of nibbles and we sat under the shade and enjoyed lunch and swapped stories till it was getting toward the end of the day and the shadows were getting longer.

December 13, 2010 at 10:12 am #192529Great RR Gav
Dan and Kerry put on a great feed at the end of the day and I did my best not to disappoint them by eating as much as I could.
A few beers and bourbons and we were off home.
Thanks to everyone that helped, I had a top day and I hope everyone else enjoyed themselves.December 13, 2010 at 10:14 am #192533Nickj wrote:

Quote:Just added the pic of Wayne MannorThey could have left the bloody caravan open for me. That big log out the front of the container was hollowed out for a dog kennel. I didn’t bother trying to sqeeze in there because I knew I’d be sleeping in one when I got home.
December 13, 2010 at 10:29 am #192537All is well that ends well Wayne, good job.
Am I right it saying it took an XR to go and get the Suzuki out

December 13, 2010 at 10:52 am #192523Great report n pics Gav, looks like a good day was had out there, and a good result.I know how it feels to leave yu bike in the bush. Happy days.
Cheers Teza.December 13, 2010 at 9:37 pm #192524The KTM had to take over when the going got too rough for the XR, TB. You cant doubble in on your own as the conditions were rugged. Wayne did well to hold on and there was quite a few moments. The seats on these things are not built for two. The best bit was riding out and then racing Joe handlebar to handlebar on the crossings.
December 14, 2010 at 6:20 am #192540Just because it was a recovery ride dosen’t mean we can’t have some fun!!!
