Well I have knocked off work, the Tenere is loaded with all the camping gear, the house sitters are organised everything is ready. Now I just need to get Christmas out of the way  Salina and I are heading north on boxing day afternoon with no need to be home before the 2nd of Jan (family is staying here at home so its good to be gone  but alas they will still be here for a week after we get home
). We will be doing a mixture of camping and staying with friends. We are staying with Sutto’s Mal at Diamond Beach, Salina’s friend near Wauchope, visiting the Mayor, Strucky, mate at Kempsey and maybe STM’s and even Nickj’s oh and Mickp said to give him a yell if we are at Frazer Park night one
I got a new adventure style helmet today and just finished fitting up the Scala
I cant wait, will take some photos tomorrow of the bike loaded with the gear for two to self support camp
We see you up there

The James Squire will be in the fridge for sure, the new Tenere might take a bit longer!

TB
December 26, 2010 at 2:25 am #193445It’s still raining up here mate, it’s supposed to be fine by the end of the week so if you make it this far you could be lucky.
December 26, 2010 at 2:53 am #193280Ride safe TB, you have a precious cargo there mate. If you make it to Nicks have a James squire for me!!
Looking forward to some adv riding this year too.December 28, 2010 at 10:00 am #193448So I will just make this a ride report as its in the adventure forum
Well Salina said we will just be nomads this week and with that in mind we got away late boxing day arvo. We rode down through Wismans Ferry and up through mangrove Mountain.
We thought we would head to Chickens for the evening but as he wouldnt be home till 8.30 we had sometime to kill. A quick trip down the back roads into Gosford to visit some friends. Great time had by all, we left for Chickens, it started to sprinkle so we kitted Salina out in her wet weather gear while I said nah we will out run it all good I wont put mine on  I got drenched
All good but you dry quick at 115
We stayed at Chicken’s thanks mate. We left early in the morning and traveled up Karauh for a bacon and egg roll (she so gets treated to all the specials when we are on the road
) From the we went through Hawks Nest and around Myall lakes and over the the ferry to Buladelah.
From there up through Wotton over the old Pacific Hwy which bought make some good and bad memories from old times, rides and scars
We got up to Sutto Mal’s beach house which was full of people I kid you not, people everywhere. We had a great stay, cheers everyone there, we may get back there on the way home.
We set up the new tent I bought for adventure riding, it sets up easy and just fits 2 people. We went for a swim and played around. Dinner photos, bikes drinking ping pong laughs. I can vouch for the fact the tent is water proof as it bucketed down all night while we lay there waiting for it to flood. Someone said we had 45mm last night but the tent remained upright and dry inside
We had a cracker breakfast and went for a swim today and left Mal’s at Diamond Beach, we went out to the hi-way and turned south to pick up a track I had found on shonky maps, we followed that around into Taree where I rang the Mayor and arranged a meet at Combyone. From there Sal and I climbed in the mist up through the mountains where we met the Mayor just out of town.
We had a quick stop at a cafe and then rode down to near Wauchope to a friend of Sal’s for the evening. Here we have had some beers (including a roadie for the Mayor) I am awaiting instructions but thin k we are continuing north towards Yamba tomorrow
December 28, 2010 at 9:31 pm #193613I am just about to duck into Wauchope and catch up with the Mayor, I want to duck out and see Moose and fuel up. This arvo the Mayor is going to lead us out through Rowland Plains and head us over the mountains to Kempsey where we are catching up with a mate for a feed tonight.
Then the next day to Coffs via the hills and mountains, no Hwy was the instructions given

December 29, 2010 at 11:22 pm #193614Spent the morning with TB yesterday, we rode the bikes into Port and visited Strucky. I rode the Tenere and TB rode the NX. The Tenere is a very nice bike and with a bit more tweaking TB can expect the same blistering performance and braking, I experience with the NX.
In Port he near had to pry my fingers off the handgrips of the Tenere as I didn’t want to surrender the Tenere and be relegated back to the NX
A return to my place saw TB in the pool fighting with my kids, while I cooked up a BBQ lunch :cheer:
Looking out of my office at the weather today, I cant help be a bit jealous of him and Sal.
It would be a nice day for a cruise up to Coffs.
December 30, 2010 at 12:43 am #193635I am going to jump on my bike now and go for a ride Mick if that makes you feel any better
December 30, 2010 at 1:45 am #193640At least you have a window to look out of Mick.
I’ve got a smal LCD screen that points to the sky.
December 31, 2010 at 12:26 am #193646For those who are wondering where TB is.
Just spoke to TB as he was crossing the Grafton bridge, they spent the night at the Novotel at Coffs where they caught up with STM for a beer, this morning they did a run up through Nana Glen and at the time I was talking to him they had just clocked up 1165km for the trip. TB suggested that it has been about 50/50 dirt and tar since they left Sydney. The plan for today is to head on up to Yamba and stay at Nickj’s place before heading south again.December 31, 2010 at 12:56 am #193676As reported I had a beer with the Big Fella and Salina yesterday in Coffs. I gave him a run sheet of forest roads that would take him through three state forests from Woolgoolga to Nana Glen. I just spoke to him now and he took a left too early and ended up descending the escarpment down one of its steepest faces.
He said it was fine which goes to show just how well the Tenere is handling.
He is meeting Nickj at Lawrence for the ferry run across the Clarence river then it is all dirt to Nick’s farm where I am sure they will do some serious rehydrating. He is then at the Northern end of his trip.STM
December 31, 2010 at 1:08 am #193677I thought I saw the big Fella down at Crescent Yesterday. Saw a fully loaded black Tenere and was sure it was TB and Salina. Went to say G’day but turned out to be a couple from Queensland.
I’ll keep an eye out for them on the return trip. Surely he’s got to take Salina down Plommer road :woohoo: :woohoo:
It’s to nice a day so I’m just about to jump on the NX and head West of Kempsey and then across to the Pub with no Beer.
Better Bloody have some when I get there
