January 22, 2011 at 12:22 pm #194983First day brief
Broken rider, recovery from a pretty remote hilly place
Rockets kato failed but a team effort saw it going after a while
3 flats one was mine
funny thing was I was sitting hanging shit on Rockets bike stopped and all of a sudden the air just hissed out of my tyre   no drama had it fixed and ready before the Kato was going so the hold up was still all about the Kato
A few offs, myself included
I had a big off on a rutted rocky downhill and a fair speed
Stump hill saw massive carnage both times it was visited and saw a few known punters doing the walk of shame
There are a few non starters in the morning because of damage or equipment failure including two from one stable that has both riders DNS a DR and a WR

yeh! I hate rocky downhills TOO, I’m the broken rider, “A bit too much speed on and a bit too much front break and the front weal go’s out and I headbut the rocks, not nice. Head is still good but shoulder, wrist and hands not so good, shoulder is the worst, cant raise my right arm at all,I’m hoping for a bad bruise but fear the worst. Just managed to drive home with one arm, sooo glad that the van is an auto.
A big thanks to the OBT crew for all there help n support, Spesial thanks to Crash for riding me out of there, and to Glen and Andy for loading up my bike n getting me sorted when we got back to the hotel,I was a bit of a mess. Thank god for Neurofen n beer. :silly:  :blink:January 23, 2011 at 5:48 am #195042I made it home ok, the 4 hour drive did the shoulder some good as it was basically motionless the whole time and doesn’t feel too bad at the moment. It was more gravity putting it back in than me, when I hit the ground and it dislocated my arm was pretty much straight up above my head with the elbow bent. At first I tried to just bring my arm back down but if I moved it in any direction it became much more painfull. I was able to roll onto my back with my upper arm still in the same position and my forearm across my face. Chad tried to help me sit up by I didn’t have the strength to keep my injured arm up and had to lay back down again. After a little while I tried rolling onto my side and the arm started to drop a bit but the pain was a bit mich so I layed back again, I did that a few times then on about the 4th go the shoulder popped back in.
I have some video which I need to edit and upload which includes TB’s bike on the ground, mind you I near took 3 people out trying to get close enough before he picked it up
Thanks to all for the good riding on both days and to Chad for helping me when I fell and running me back to the motel and loading up my bike. There was a good mix of hills and singles and some open stuff,,,,,,,,,, and dust and we only lost 1 sweep all weekend, I road the DRZ for this one as I hadn’t really given it a decent test since I had the suspension set up for my “larger frame” and it was a pleasure to ride soaking up all the big and little bumps with ease and for the most part went where I pointed it (the Berg might be on the outer now).
