Well after not riding for many years, then getting an RMX, back in the sadle again, rediscover the joy of riping through the bush n tracks, loving it again. Bike gets ripped off,no bike again, two years later, get the RMX back from the cops, unbelevable bike is a bit worse for ware but still worth having.Fix it up start to ride again,So great, ooops! Wet slipery tree root on a corner, lost the ass end, not a bad stack but shoulder hurts. Torn tendent needs surgery, spewin.Another two years later, just back into work again, new job. I’m ready to go for a ride, wife not happy about it but I win, back on the tracks again, all good but must have rego,,,,OK took a wile but get rego, happy day’s, getting a bit of riding in on the local tracks out the back of Minto through to Appin then get in on the Hampton ride a couple of weeks ago which was great fun but managed to have a pretty bad fall on the saterday afternoon ride, some loose down hill stuff,,,busted shoulder, two spraind hands n wrist and assorted other bruses. The guyes had to ride me out of there, no sunday ride for me HA! My first OBT meet up:blush:
That ride and that weekend out at Hampton, even though I came out of it pretty stuffed, only wet my appitite for riding even more and I look forward to future rides, I really enjoyed meating up with and riding with like minded people such as the OBT crew.
PROBLEM.
Wife is totaly over it and wonts me to sell the RMX. Recons it’s JINXED, even before I got it cos the guy that I bought it of had his leg in plaster from stacking it:evil: So she says that if I ever ride that thing again it’s over:whistle:
Now I have no intention of giving up riding and will only get rid of the RMX for a better bike, but I don’t wont a big hastle. I would realy like to have a wife and a bike.
Big Question, but any sugestions?????

February 7, 2011 at 1:15 pm #196038either ditch the mrs or get yourself a new bike so your rid of the jinx. The new bike is probably cheaper in the long term
February 7, 2011 at 1:15 pm #196048So does she want you to stop riding? Or are you allowed to keep riding but she wants you to get a different bike?
Get a new bike I say :woohoo:

February 7, 2011 at 1:17 pm #196039By the sounds of it she only said not to ride that bike, sell it, buy another one and your free to ride. It’s working on a bit of a technicality but still within the rule she set down.
February 7, 2011 at 1:23 pm #196051Yeh! thats it I’l happely go the new bike, but the trick is geting the funds out .If I sell the RMX I’l never see the loot for the new bike I recon.

February 7, 2011 at 1:38 pm #196054Mate ya just gotta go for few rides without stacking to keep her happy. She’s just worried about ya. Make a point of goin for ride and when ya get back without comin off keep lettin her know. And blame the crashes that ya have had on someone or something else as long as she knows it was’nt your fault.
February 7, 2011 at 1:39 pm #196056He could always go for that other mighty Suzuki, the great DRZ

February 7, 2011 at 1:55 pm #196058Maybe go on a couple of safe rides, to prove to her that you don’t always stack, don’t twist the right hand as much, but if all else fails trade the old girl in (wife) 😆

February 7, 2011 at 2:41 pm #196040OK… been reading all the ‘boy’ banter and its put a smile on my dial.
Here’s some advice from a girl’s perspective:
1. Firstly it’s important for a relationship to have activities outside of your other half’s world. Everyone should have their ‘own’ time. It what makes the relationship interesting.
2. You have to be true to your passion and not compromise it for anyone.
3. Your passion should be a healthy one (if you know what I mean)
4. You should understand/acknowledge your other half’s concerns and show how you can manage it as a win/win for both.At the end of the day if she really loves you she will allow you to have your space to do your passion but always respect her concerns.
Kat.. (pay me later … ha ha)
February 7, 2011 at 2:51 pm #196118G’Day Teza,
Tough joices there!
As much as getting rid of the wife may fix some of your problems the fact is she will take most of what you own with her so that’s not a real option.
The RMX is a great bike and i used to own one so i have some experience on parting with it.
As yours is registered i am assuming that it is later than a 98 model? the fact they are old technology.
There was a time lag between the sale of my RMX and the purchase of the KTM but the memory was still strong and compared to the later bikes the RMX was a bit of a dinosaur.
What’s this got to do with anything i hear you ask.
Have you considered that the RMX is not as forgiving as you might think.
For their time they were certainly more refined than other models available but they are still a little unpredictable.
Maybe an update to a later model 4 stroke would help to keep you in the saddle (it did for me).
The Yamaha WR250F comes to mind the pre 05 models are well priced sure you don’t get electric start but your used to kicking anyway.
You’ll get usable torque so that you can attack hills at a little slower pace.
The power curve makes slippery tracks easier and they are light and forgiving when you make a mistake. As far as the jinx goes you will be rid of it.
And the wife will be happy to let you ride a bike that isn’t possesed.:laugh:I also suffer from issues when selling bikes, the money gets sucked into some black hole that everyone but you seems to be able to justify.
So what i do is start looking for the new bike at the same time as selling the old one.
I try and line up the sale with the purchase that way i get and spend the cash at the same time (just a thought)Rebore.
