    I have a 06 Suzuki Bandit 1200 and a 10 WR450. I’m thinking of getting rid of the road bike and setting up the Wr450 to be both super motard and enduro. Has anyone out there done this? Any issues or advice would be greatly appreciated. Would also like to know of any bike shops in north,B) west or central melbourne that can do the job.

    I do this with my 09 WR 450. With the rear wheel it needs to be laced slightly to the right to stop the chain from hitting the tyre. You need to cut big scallops into your fork guards to give the front tyre clearance and you may need a longer front brake hose if running a bigger front disk, i also run my hose around the outside of the fork leg to the caliper when in motard setup.

    Its a little fiddly to fit the wheels compared to the enduro wheels, with mine on the rear I have to remove the chain guide and rear caliper fit the wheel then re fit the chain guide and caliper.

    On the front you have to hold your tongue right and try to feed the caliper onto the adaptor plate there is not much room once the front wheel is fitted. I cover my wheel in tape to protect it whilst doing this. For track I run 14.50 gearing for highway cruising 14. 43.

    I had a set of suzuki rims on my WR400 years ago. I machined a new hub for the rear and spacers front and back. You don’t need to go to that trouble these days. Just get on Ebay and find a set of motards wheels for the WR and fit them up. See if you can find a set with a cush drive rear hub. Your gearbox will love you for it. As Badbowie said if you hold your tougne right it goes together easy enough. It takes me about an hour to change to my Motard setup now and thats taking my time. Beer helps too.

    When you first ride with the motard setup, just go easy on the bike as they turn much faster than a roadie and accelerate like a dog shot in the arse. Once you get used to it you’ll be scraping the footpeg on roundabouts before you know it. :woohoo:

    After lots of thought I finally converted the bike. Warp 9 rims fully set up with rotors, rear cog, spacers etc imported for about $1100. Trail tech vapor speedo.

    When fitting the front brake calliper couldn’t for the life of me work out how to slide the calliper over the disc as there just wasn’t enough room between disc and rim. After a few beers I discovered the inner pad had to be removed to fit calliper and then replace once calliper fitted. A bit diddly but it works.

    Had tp file back the fork guards to fit the tyre but other wise all good.
